I just reread that and Project Hail Mary, because I finally read Artemis and needed more Andy Weir. That man tickles exactly the right part of my brain.
Now I’m onto the Bobiverse series and loving it.
Other than the epigraph for the prologue, it is sort of the first line of the book. Because the part about Kalak is the “Prelude to the Stormlight Archive,” and after that the book says “Book One \n The Way of Kings” and then goes on to the prologue.
What a surprise. Being told you’re always right leads to you not being able to handle being wrong. Shock.

The way the word is used in Hebrew isn’t that meaning of vain. It is vain in the sense of “vanity.” Emptiness of speech, lying, etc.
Martin Luther interprets the commandment thusly:
You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God.
What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not curse, swear, use satanic arts, lie, or deceive by His name, but call upon it in every trouble, pray, praise, and give thanks.
And I think lying and deceiving very much encompasses the way the “Christian” Nationalists manipulate the religious.

When you gain weight your fat cells grow, and when you lose weight they shrink. You don't actually gain and lose fat cells the way people think.
But as my doctor explained to me, if they get big enough, they divide. Then even if you lose weight, you have fat cells hanging around who think they should be holding onto more fat than they are. So your body will want to be fat, and will enforce that with cravings.
It’s why it’s extremely hard to lose a large amount of weight and leave it off. I’m on my third major attempt now.
It really shouldn’t surprise me when judges make the obvious right calls, but at this point any good news is worth celebrating.
