Explain the bookclub: We are reading Volumes 1, 2, and 3 in one year and discussing it in weekly threads. (Volume IV, often published under the title Theories of Surplus Value, will not be included in this particular reading club, but comrades are encouraged to do other solo and collaborative reading.) This bookclub will repeat yearly.

I'll post the readings at the start of each week and @mention anybody interested. Let me know if you want to be added or removed.

I was gonna make a meme similar to this.

People will condemn AI or rocket research unless the word 'Chinese' is appended.

[–] Vampire@hexbear.net 3 points 10 months ago

That is very beautiful

[–] Vampire@hexbear.net 2 points 10 months ago

Read Listen Marxist by Bookchin.

It's pretty good. It's a history book.

The take-home point is that the Bolsheviks crushed their opponents including the Russian working class.

PS: I get it now. Hemlock caises the 'sardonic grin'

[–] Vampire@hexbear.net 11 points 10 months ago (2 children)

What's the joke? What was the plant?

[–] Vampire@hexbear.net 12 points 10 months ago

Pretty tricky. There's essentially no way for the average pirate.

[–] Vampire@hexbear.net 72 points 10 months ago (3 children)

We need to praise the greatness of comrades in all nations.

Think of the great contributions to our immortal movement made by British and French socialists.

[–] Vampire@hexbear.net 1 points 10 months ago

Wow. Amazing.

[–] Vampire@hexbear.net 19 points 10 months ago (2 children)

What is this meant to say?

[–] Vampire@hexbear.net 3 points 10 months ago

I've read a little about Project 2025 (I don't follow this stuff closely) and it seems bad. But how realistic is it? Aren't there always frimge groups with bad/extremist ideas?

I like it when the week and the month start on the same day, feels tidy. When will the Politburo impose a perennial calendar??? Anyway good job to everyone who is still with us, we have passed the halfway mark of the book (and the year!). Chapter 20 Simple reproduction of Volume II has lots of parts, we're only reading about half of it this week.

Will we mine He3 on the moon?

Will we just do deuterium-deuterium fusion because the fuel is abundant and the output is good-enough?

Will we source tritium from.... where?
