Oh, TIL that the small part by the Caspian Sea is far enough west to be considered Europe. Thanks for the correction.

Don’t forget the reverse Romanian Wilkinson.

Not quite correct. Kazakhstan is in central Asia, not Europe, even by a loose definition. Instead, Belgium (Brussels vs. Antwerp) and - by some definitions of Europe - Turkey (Ankara vs. Istanbul) should be on your list.

Wikipedia has a complete list.

Edit: Germany used to be a case that did this intentionally until 1990. While it was split into West and East Germany, West Germany chose Bonn as its capital as Berlin was surrounded by East Germany. They could have chosen a large city like Hamburg, Munich, Cologne or Frankfurt but went with the much smaller Bonn to symbolize that it was only a temporary solution.

Habe gestern ein Experiment gewagt. Mit süßem Senf. War gar nicht mal so schlecht.

To add some more, here's a list of stuff that I would love to do at some point but haven't found the time yet:

  • A tool that directly translates PCB designs into a format that my resin 3D printer can read so I can abuse its display as a UV etching machine
  • An alternative to GPlates that's a bit easier to use for fantasy worldbuilding. GPlates is great but it's mostly meant for serious scientific work so its UI is a bit complicated.
  • A minimalistic blogging platform that interfaces with ActivityPub
  • Many, many games.

Instead of a long-winded post, here's a quick list of stuff that I've worked on in my free time over the last few months:

  • Some scripts to automatically set some metadata on my photo library
  • A tool that grabs a video stream from an HDMI input (from the OS's point of view that looks just like any webcam), finds text in it and overlays a translation. I use that to play Japanese visual novels on my Switch
  • A simple Bubble Shooter game because my gf was frustrated with some bugs in the one she had found online
  • A simple 2D game engine and editor inspired by RPG Maker XP
  • Updates to the registration website for a community event that I host twice a year
  • Updates to a discord bot that automates some dice rolls for my online TTRPG sessions
  • A browser extension that helps me scrape some data from a specific website
  • Helped a friend port an old website from PHP5 to PHP8

Overall, it's mostly stuff that is useful for my hobbies for which I can't find an existing solution that fits my use case.

All of the Discworld books of course. Or at least your favorites.

Could be a mild form of synesthesia or just some subconscious memory.

Anyway, what colors are the following:

  • Wednesday (the weekday, not the Addams family character)
  • science
  • heartbreak
  • fantasy
  • the letter F
  • infinity

Damn, you were faster than I was, I was just calculating the same thing. All I have left is to assume that they won't be able to fully dry the silver and guess a bit higher... 850g.

Foreign dubs are basically whole movies lipsynced from start to finish and that happens all the time.

Never said that. I said I rarely block people in general, not that there are few trolls.

But sure, if you want to increase the size of my block list, calling my post "some bs" just because my experience is different from yours is probably a good start. Let's see if I'll stick around long enough to get so annoyed that I need to block you or if I just walk away.

I block people very rarely (I think I have just two or three blocks on Lemmy and Mastodon combined) but when I do it's because of tone, not because of content. I'm fine with reading things I don't agree with or that I think are disconnected from reality. As you say, it gives you an idea of what others think. But if someone is needlessly and consistently rude, I just don't need that in my life.

How is it May already? And why are there so few fox-sized playgrounds around here?

This photo might not look like much but it has a lot of emotional value for us. The foxes and I live in a big city with very little greenery. So every year in April we rent a small cottage out in the woods and enjoy the sounds and smells of nature.

I'm working on a replacement for a broken shelf in my fridge door. It's about 37.6 cm (14.8") on the longest axis so I need to print it in two pieces (as shown in the screenshot). Does anyhone have a good idea for a connection between the two that will be sturdy enough? The fridge door will support it from below for about half of its depth, the rest hangs free.

Wall thickness is currently at 3mm but I can increase it a bit if needed.

One of my favorite pictures from my photo calendars (see my other post). Taken at Ferriter's Cove in Ireland in August 2016, became the August picture for the 2017 calendar.

It all started with a trip to Ireland in 2016 where I thought that simple landscape photos would be too boring so I brought some fox plushies. The photos turned out so cute that I turned them into a calendar as a Christmas gift for friends and family.

Now, years later, I have nine of these calendars and I'm working on a tenth. I've posted them on Mastodon for a while but never found the right community on Lemmy so I guess now you'll have to deal with it here.

The photo in this thread is this year's title. I was packing for a photography job at the local disco and the way the fox sat in the backpack seemed like a good representation of what I'm doing.

For tabletop miniatures I prefer to use a flexible resin to avoid small details breaking off when removing supports or when a mini falls off the table. So far I've used Ameralabs TGM-7 but now that my current bottle is almost empty I'm thinking about looking into alternatives. At over 75€ per liter, TGM-7 is really expensive compared to other resins.

Amazon recommended me RESIONE TH72 as an alternative and there are others on the market like Sunlu Standard Plus. So far I couldn't find a good comparison between them. Do any of you have experience with any of those or other recommendations?

Finally found out what kept me from uploading photos directly to lemmy so hopefully it will work this time.

This is part of a series that I shot in 2020 and now I’ll finally have the chance to show them in an exhibition on Berlin later this year.

I made this list based on the instructions PDF that's available from LEGO's website. For most of these, it doesn't really matter if they are black, dark bluish gray or light bluish gray so I picked them based on what will most likely look good with the surrounding colors and what is cheapest on Bricklink.

Two notable parts: Technic, Axle and Pin Connector Perpendicular Double with Axle Connector 2L is only available in white (the same color as in the set) and for the Technic, Axle 1L with Pin without Friction Ridges "old" light gray is significantly cheaper than any of the newer colors except the included tan.

In general, if you want to save a few bucks, you can probably leave all tan and white pieces as they are. For me, the complete replacement (250 pieces) cost about 35€ plus shipping.

Can we please get a post that explains what this community is for? Seems like nobody reads the sidebar (which is hard to access on most mobile clients) so we constantly get flooded with questions that would rather fit in !lemmy_support@lemmy.ml or !fediverse@lemmy.world

I understand that many people are still confused by how lemmy works but we should make clear that this is for general questions and discussions similar to what /r/askreddit was and not a place to ask technical questions about lemmy.

The fediverse is discussing if we should defederate from Meta's new Threads app. Here's why I probably won't (for now).

(Federation between plume and my lemmy instance doesn't work correctly at the moment, otherwise I would have made this a proper crosspost)
