And I thought it was bad that most of the ads I get are for meat. Guess who doesn't eat meat.

Gore though, wth. Youtube is picky enough about gore that CNN and other outlets spend a little more time these days censoring the worst of it, apparently. Might as well leave it in for the easy recommendations I guess.

Obviously there are complementary high waters for the squatters.

In addition, hardware developers reinvent old ways of doing things and only learn by making all the same mistakes that have been made before. It's sad, but true.

This same criticism is validly launched at software devs all the time lol.

One thing I've anecdotalally seen and heard is hardware guys indicating that something is rock solid and solved because it's old, so building on top of it isn't a problem. Obviously we have to build on the old to get to the new, but if we just skip auditing hardware due to age we end up deploying vulnerable hardware globally. Spectre and Meltdown are an interesting example where I've heard from at least one distinguished professor that "everyone" believed branch prediction design/algorithms were essentially done. Was it adequately assessed from a security POV? Clearly not, but was it assessed from a security POV in general? I have no idea, but it would be nice as a tech enthusiast and software guy to see the other side of the fence take these things seriously in a more public way, in particular when it comes to assessing old hardware for new attack vectors.

If that was on the table I'd be there in a heartbeat

Awesome , that's good to hear! I appreciate the invite, I'll check it out.

Edit: the server seems pretty cool! Thanks again for the invite

Gotcha. Might throw it on while working tomorrow!

I try not to buuut I did see there are several episodes about this on there and that did prompt the post lmao.

I don't really like the format of the shows on that network (why invite a guest on to talk AT THEM for 1 to 4 hours? They're literally wasting their guests time, it drives me nuts).

Did you check out those episodes?

Thanks for the links! Any place you'd suggest starting with? I'm mostly asking because it's just really easy to bump into super biased sources. For example, Ive seen Kronstadt, 1921 around, but the folks around me who've read it also are unapologetically anti communist (left and otherwise), and the author seemed to have a specific agenda to paint anarchists in a very positive light.

I realize this is exaggerated, but do you actually get useful responses with emails of that length? When I have to send a work email I can't write more than 2 sentences and expect a meaningful response, if I get one at all. The best is when you're literally trying to help someone else do their job and they don't respond. It's always managers too! ITS LITERALLY THEIR JOB TO REPLY TO EMAILS

Seems like a good reason to dislike the name lol, hadn't really thought about it much tbh.

None taken! Why is that?

Oo I started and stopped reading this recently, maybe this will get me back on track.

This book got me to look into getting assessed. I also found that the book helped me give myself permission to be "weird" sometimes and to better look out for myself in certain social situations. Definitely also feels like ASD could explain my p confusing relationship to gender & sexual identity.

I'd definitely recommend this to other folks that are wondering if they are on the spectrum.
