I think you can change some batteries. Managed to change a pixel's battery by myself using a hair drier.

I got one that I paid £80 and it saves me £520 per annum as I don't have to pay for the taxi cab to and back from the nearest Lidl, I guess you could make it from spare parts for free, but it saves so many trips and money that I think you'd lose money trying to hack it from 2x4, sometimes you need to cough up the dough
