Path of exile

Which?

All are welcome to join us for a free night of board games in the nice and quiet food court by Caribou Coffee, which is inside the West Allis grocery store Festival Foods: https://maps.app.goo.gl/24u7oREVGX1gYzkn9

The next event is tomorrow, Thursday, 11/19, during 6-9 PM (though we sometimes go over as the store closes at 10 PM). More events can be found at any of these links, which mirror each other:

Join 4 to 8 participants for games in the food court of West Allis's Festival Foods / Caribou Coffee! Come late or leave early as you please.

Make new friends and learn new games or teach your favorites. No games? No problem! The pictured stash in these links is almost always present by default, and there is also an in-house collection of titles ready to use. Some, like Exploding Kittens, are as short as 10 minutes if you're low on time, while others, like Terraforming Mars, could take up the night!

There are no age limits, but minors must be supervised. To reach the food court, enter and walk straight ahead to the northeast corner of the building. The only requirements are a cooperative attitude, and that outside food and drink (other than water) are forbidden, so if you'd like dinner, the deli is open until 8 PM. If you want coffee, Caribou closes at 6 PM. Consider bringing an icebox if you'd like to grocery-shop for perishables and then stay for games. Hope to see you there!

Shoot, really? Dang...

Yeah, just... do not sink deeper into the bathtub lol...

And the other 2?

No, just convert any laptop into Linux if you want an open-source computer. All these phablets are extremely unfriendly to people with hand pain/injuries. Bigger is not better and I really wish manufacturers knocked this off. Screens also dig into battery life tremendously.

CMV: Towers and Unequal are literally impossible to beat at their harder/hardest difficulty levels without any cheating or guessing.

I've never used Vent nor Teamspeak, either. I just don't get why Reddit's/Lemmy's excellent threading can't be followed more closely. I understand that IMs fire rapidly and can bury threads up above, but the current format is just too unwieldy for mass discussion.

Actually, it's the lack of E2E that I dislike the most. There doesn't seem to be any easy way to solve real-time child comments, but at least Matrix is E2E. Revolt, while not E2E (and lacking video-streaming), can at least be self-hosted as well. Where Discord excels insanely is in its live screen-sharing; nothing comes close except maybe Google Meet and Zoom.

Discord has such a ridiculous, unfriendly layout, too; almost any other platform has a better UI...

every time I talk to them it seems apple has marked another issue off the list with an update.

Like what? You can't even Bluetooth a file on an iPhone over to anything.

This is a weekly, public, free gathering for participants to make friends while having a good time learning new (or sharing favorite) titles. Depending on whether you open this calendar link on desktop or mobile, the link to add it to your own Google Calendar will appear in either the bottom-left or bottom-right, and then it'll automatically show you all future events if you set it to synchronize and make the events visible. I don't know if this can be added to iCal or other platforms' calendars... That'd be neat if it could.

Those who prefer Facebook can follow at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/westallisboardgames

For context, we still see anywhere within 4-12 attendees every time and have played some awesome games that participants have brought, like Survive the Island, Fire Tower, Wandering Towers, and more (but you don't have to bring or know anything to participate)!

Nurse: "Where?"
Me: "No, regular."

I've been manually going through everything, including merging credentials going back two decades across 2-3 browsers finally to a single password manager, and... geez, there's literal months' worth of reviewing to do if you added up all the time if it was nonstop.

I'm just curious about how others' experiences have been, for those who shifted towards a more anti-megacorp stance later on.

It doesn't even tell me which instance I'm on until an error appears. I wish there was a drop-down option that you could choose to have you show which instance you're currently on at all times. This never happened until I added another account on a different instance, and now it seems to jumble up the 2 continually.

This comment encouraging me to try out NoScript Security Suite (Firefox) changed my life. googletagmanager is used everywhere!

This would be nice since it's effectively useless, at least as far as I can tell.

Great app other than this issue!

  1. Be in account 1
  2. Switch out to account 2
  3. Get all the way to commenting on a post in the feed with no visual indication that anything is wrong
  4. Instance mismatch; you can't submit the comment, nor even save the post to your account

This has happened to me several times now and getting the mismatch popup to appear to switch instances seems to be difficult to trigger. It'd be nice if there was a manual button or constant indicator showing what instance you're on and prompting to switch if there's a mismatch.

Galaxy S21 FE 5G stuck on Android 12 (don't ask lol; long story)

I just can't find any!

I just can't find any!

Edit: Thanks, everyone!

I know an incredibly smart senior here near Milwaukee County, WI who's disabled by MS and has been restricted to using a scooter for years. He'd love to walk again, but I but I don't know how he can get involved in studies like this: https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-025-00863-0

All I could find was the ISSCR (Int'l Society for Stem Cell Research), but I don't think reaching them directly would be fruitful, would it?

It garbles advertisers' data as a result, but you must disable uBlock Origin to run it; they can't work simultaneously. I recently moved to it and, so far, am never looking back!
