this one time a long time ago I had taken shrooms, and at one point in the night I was outside with my friend and I was pacing around really quickly ranting about something, and my friend says something like "bro you're too much right now, I need to sit down, do you want to take a seat with me?" and I put my face right up against his like as close as I could get without touching, and I just go "If we slow down, we die."

"If we slow down we die" has been randomly popping into my head for over a decade.

So I'm over here doing some light work outside, and I look at my phone to see when it's going to rain, and I come to find we have an air quality alert? Because of 4th of July fireworks? This "holiday" continues to be horrible.

As a tall person, I feel fully useless until someone calls me to hang shit up on the the ceiling or grab something on the shelf. Then I'm like

No!

Oh no I’m mostly just referring to covid

Yeah I think the word you used, disappointment, is a good one. I’ve been having to come to terms with that in my own life, people who have not necessarily been horrible to me, but in whom I’m very disappointed and surprised honestly in their lack of principles. My relationship has changed with a lot of people, and honestly there are a ton of people in my life who I now feel like I can’t trust.

That classic parenting phrase - “I’m not mad, just disappointed” - is a good way to sum up how I’ve been feeling

No absolutely not. I think unless they've done something really egregious to you though, it's not worth getting too angry about. We all know the amount of propaganda we've been subjected to regarding Covid, the absolutely massive push to sweep it under the rug. To some degree I think you can understand why they're not masking anymore, even while understanding that it's wrong and dangerous and unprincipled.

Obviously if they've been really egregious about not masking around you and disregarding your (or your partner's) boundaries though that would be another thing, and a little more anger is justified.

Astrology is actually based on a system. This isn’t based on anything. I can just decide I’m a sigma one day and then I am. There’s actually a method behind astrology, natal charts and horoscopes, even if much of it is bullshit. There’s nothing underlying this.

Look, I'm not sure who created LGBTQ, but I'm trying to figure out how we can get them to LGBTQueue at the polls

but really I honestly don't get this big focus on the difference between generations. Maybe it's because I sort of straddle the line between millennial and gen z and have good friends in both camps, but gen z is not really doing that much that's new. Even gen alpha and their "skibidi toilet" that everyone is suddenly up in arms about is not really that different from the things that came before. Most of the characteristics of these generations that people are focusing have been around for a long, long time. Like three-quarters of their slang (which is really just Black slang) I've been using since at least 2010. You can even hear a good deal of "gen z slang" in old 90s hip-hop. And nearly all of their music and shit I can hear the beginnings of in all the shit that I used to listen to. Anime, fandom, cosplay, none of this stuff is new. Maybe because it's all more mainstream now, I don't know. But people treat gen z as this radical departure from some imagined norm, but if you've been paying attention for the last decade and a half it's not really new.

Just asked this on reddit but figured I'd get the Hexbear ML line on avocado ripeness

Question is pretty straightforward. I usually buy them when they're just starting to ripen (like they have a bit of give to them but they're not "soft" imo) and then wait until they get quite a bit soft before eating them. They're pretty easy to spread/mash this way. They're not brown when I cut them open, but I'm wondering if I should really be eating them when they're closer to that "just starting to ripen" stage, and not the "one day away from too ripe" stage.

Like seems like people are calling out the site for being sorta bullshit. But also some of the stuff posted turned out to be true. And lines up with some stuff in the kendrick disses

Guess I didn't clean my kale well enough. The woke mind virus putting bugs in our vegetables now.

Love my sweet potatoes but I'm looking for other things to do with them other than just baking them. I understand boiling them won't turn the starches to sugars though so I'm wondering if this is any good. I was thinking of doing some sort of mashed sweet potato thing, so also trying to figure out what to add to them.

Also I see people in the Caribbean boiling sweet potatoes, but it's usually the harder white kind. I'd be boiling the softer orange kind. I'm wondering if it's still possible to boil that type.

Zoomers refuse to call and leave a voicemail but then send you a 3 minute voice message

There's kkkrakkkers and there's honkkkies. And honkkkies have got to go. Every time kkkrakkkers wanna have a good time, pretentious-ass honkkkies fuck it up. Can't do shit! Can't do shit without some pretentious-ass honkkkies fucking it up. Can't do nothing! Can't grill out in the park for more than half an hour! Soon as you get there, honkkkies call the cops! Can't go to a farmers market to buy vegetables, why? 'Cause honkkkies have clogged them all up with fancy donut stalls! What kind of pretentious shit is that? "Hey, this a good farmers market! This so good, but it would be better with six different donut stalls to choose from!"

Hey, I love kkkrakkkers, but I hate honkkkies, boy. Boy, I hate honkkkies. Boy, I wish they'd let me join the Nation of Islam! Shit, I'd do an unlimited genocide from here to Cape Cod. Tired of honkkkies, man! You can't have shit when you around honkkkies. You can't have shit. You can't have no apartment! You can have it, but you better be in an extremely run down neighborhood. Start robbing businesses, hope it scares honkkkies off. Your home can never look nice, why? Because honkkkies'll throw you out and take it. Honkkkies who steal your home then see you on the street and go, "We need to eradicate the homeless." Like, "Honkkky, you made me homeless. The homeless are your creation!"
