For me it was if you swallow a plant seed, the plant will grow in your stomach and you will die from it. My dad was joking, but I was 5 and didn't know any better. I went on believing that until I was in my teens because things like that you don't re-evaluate every so often. It's just "my dad told me this and he wouldn't lie to me because grownups don't lie" stuck on autopilot.

I'm typing this message on this computer (upgraded as far as it'll go, running Debian Stable). No one needs any of this hardware for what most people use their computers for.

At one point in my life I had the XP VLK for my university memorized. Now all I remember is the end: BGDBB.

None, because they don't exist.

My life goal is to not work...which is why I'm not spending my money on a status symbol.

Linux distros have to ship all these drivers because otherwise someone would try that distro and say "nothing works, this sucks" if they had to go hunt for drivers to install. Windows computers really are the same way, but they're almost always preconfigured.

Depends on what you're into, I suppose.

Why you're not pirating. You're just training your LLM.

At the moment it's Chappell Roan - After Midnight. The odd thing is that that's the only song I like by her and I like it more than I care to admit.

Diana Rigg, but only because I was a big Bond nerd in high school.

Only correct answer.

Reporters gathered at the scene noted that by “putting [his] body on the line,” this particular lawmaker apparently just meant standing at the back of a quiet group and playing online chess on his phone.

I'm sorry to all the trans people who live in Ohio and might visit here that have to deal with our shitty politicians.

From the article: The new law will require K-12 and college students at public and private schools to use bathrooms and locker rooms that match their sex assigned at birth. It also bans multi-occupancy gender neutral restrooms and prevents transgender students from sharing overnight accommodations with peers of the same gender.

Of interest is that Coy was out on bond, which was revoked after the guilty verdict. The FOP and the defense lawyer both think that it's unreasonable for an officer to know a suspect has a weapon before shooting them.

Not the Onion, but still great satire.

Ohio actually has a law that says if you legally change your name within the last 5 years, it has to be on the petition. In the article it mentions that there is no place for a previous name (dead name in this instance) on the petition, and the Secretary of State’s candidate guide doesn’t mention this requirement at all.

Apparently other trans candidates had their petitions accepted with no problem.

Looks like the Senate bill has gotten better. There is some good and some bad. They're cutting back on home grow and max potency for extracts. They're expunging all convictions on possession of 2.5oz or less, and I think most importantly, allowing people to buy from medical dispensaries for recreational use. Right now, it's legal to possess, but illegal to sell. This should fix that loophole.
