They've been using AAC with a variable bitrate for the last 15+ years, usually capped at 192 kbps, which is plenty. Stuff from 2009 and older might still be recorded in 128 kbps, but they've been replacing some with better quality versions as well.
Germany won in 2010. It's been 15 years, but that's far from ancient history.

Yup. I'm on my second now because of an international relocation, but the first one is still going strong at my dad's. Bought that thing 14 years ago, was the first series that came with network enabled printing instead of USB (though it has a port).
