Stopping all fediverse activities. Good bye.
Absolutely stupid indisriminate bans by mods on various instances make it clear to me lemmy and fediverse does not want content.
if I ever get back to fediverse It would be on my own instance as its clear to me nothing short of that is going to work.

I don't even understand billionaire yachts. Even the biggest and fanciest is less big and fancy, and has more inconveniences, than the same home on land. It goes places, but not quickly. It can't even be the lawlessness of international waters, because the law doesn't apply to them anyway.
It’s a status thing. Like most of the crap the billionaires do.
It also has utility thought. It provides a big presence for guests. If you really want to hire someone or do some kinda business deal, you fly them by helicopter to the yacht. Wine and dine em in a floating ballroom. It’d be a lot harder to say no in that kind of space.
Because of the implication.
Its also a rentable income generating asset. Just like a 3rd or 30th home or whatever. Its something they can own to use the one week out of the year they might want, and then rent out to other rich (but poorer than them) people the other 99% of the time
Why do you think Kevin Cosner owns a giant ranch in one of the most expensive places in Colorado? He is probably almost never there himself, but its an easy thing to rent out to other very wealthy people for weddings, vacations, events, etc
It's also a place to buy time while the federal government is looking to serve you a warrant or subpoena if you're in international waters. That's what Dan Snyder did for almost a year.
Serious question: what exactly did Dan Snyder do wrong? I know he would occasionally sneak in scripted inappropriate vague-sexual-innuendo & foot fetish moments in his Nickelodeon shows for child/teen actors, which was inappropriate & unacceptable.
But did he also physically violate any of those kids?? 😬😡
We're talking about two different pieces of shit whose names are very similar. The one I'm referring to is the meddlesome former owner of the Washington Commanders, which was formerly the Washington Redskins until he was forced to change the name and Washington Football Team for a couple years as a placeholder, and Northwest Stadium.
There was a culture of sexual harassment and intimidation throughout the organization while he was the owner, especially towards the cheerleaders. He's had to pay hush money to his accusers multiple times. He's been investigated by the NFL and Congress a few times, and he was forced to sell the team when it was discovered he was hiding ticket sales money that is supposed to be distributed across the league.
Oh! Apparently I've never heard of any Dan Snyder until now. Yeah Dan SCHNEIDER is ick too.
😡 scoundrel
Ever been on a cruise ship before? It's like that, except for just one person and their friends/family. The point isn't to get to your destination quickly, the journey itself is half the fun. That's why I always go with the biggest ship I can find with the most on-board amenities. And since everything is included in the upfront cost, it's one of the cheaper vacations you can take.
(Also fuck billionaires and their yachts.)
Its 'cheaper' because cruise companies pay their employees the minimum wages of their home port. And look at that... their home port is in poor countries...
Being on the water gives a sense of peace and fulfillment that few other hobbies can offer. That's why even poor people do it.
*it's also the most stressful way to relax ever.
**I say the Canadian dream is to own a place that makes it more difficult for you to cook.
At a certain point, everything you could ever want is available, so better things on land is pretty marginal. However, I agree, it seems unnecessary, but so does everything else they do. They literally have more money than they can spend, so why not I guess? Even if they don't use it, they can brag about how big their yacht is to the other billionaires, and I imagine some poorer people would be pretty enticed by it, if that's something they care about.
