Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Also attending the press conference were members of Assault Brigade 2506, a CIA-sponsored group of Cuban exiles living in the Miami area that made the invasion attempt.

The bill passed with bipartisan support, with only seven Democrats in the Florida House and Senate voting against.

So, around the early 70s, LaRouche's National Caucus of Labor Committees decided it needed to establish 'hegemony', right? But they didn't really have a coherent theoretical base to work off of, so their conception of 'hegemony' was going around New York City and crashing meetings of other communist organizations in order to beat up their members with nunchucks

Good thing my parents hid their drug use from me or I would have snitched them out in 5th grade probably.

Now? I’m high and snitches get stitches. Another successful DARE graduate.

Going to make communism cool again

[–] HexbearGPT@hexbear.net 19 points 1 year ago

I won the DARE essay contest in 5th grade and got a free DARE duffel bag.

I’m high as balls right now.

[–] LeopardShepherd@hexbear.net 12 points 1 year ago

It taught me about all the cool drugs that were out there and how amazing they would make me feel!

[–] Rod_Blagojevic@hexbear.net 24 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I read an excerpt from it a few months ago. Holy shit, it's exactly what the kids need to be learning! I'm still untwisting my brain.

[–] VILenin@hexbear.net 50 points 1 year ago

Hey class! Today’s guest speaker is Hitler Himmler von Goebbels-Omegahitler, here to teach us about the horrors of Judeo-Bolshevi- I mean communism.

[–] RION@hexbear.net 47 points 1 year ago

Tankie DeSantis making Khrushchev Lied mandatory reading sicko-wistful

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 45 points 1 year ago (1 children)

We had anti-communist propaganda in school and look where I am now.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's literally partly theie fault I am one now. If it didn't seem like the teachers I liked the least seemed to hate it the most, I probably wouldn't have looked into it as open minded as early as I did.

[–] HexbearGPT@hexbear.net 13 points 1 year ago (5 children)

When i learned the Nazis killed anarchists and communists first, i thought there may be something worthwhile there.

capitalism is when everyone has a cow but communism is when the entire village has to share one cow

[–] HexbearGPT@hexbear.net 12 points 1 year ago

Where’s my damn cow?

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 42 points 1 year ago (8 children)

So, that's a huge W for us. You know what I was as a kid? Contrarian as hell towards any view my teachers had even if retrospectively they were correct. The first exposure to looking into communism on my own was reading the manifesto in 8th grade to figure out what my weirdo social studies teacher was so riled up about. There is no USSR boogeyman that you can say is constantly threatening global Armageddon in any way that feels realistic anymore as well. Y'all won the Cold War and are scared enough of communism still to push this? Kids thrive on adult fear. Plus there's like, way more communism online now than before, you want a cultural revolution in 15 years? Here's how you get one you absolute dolts. They'd be better off just not bringing it up as an option. Global warming really sucks, cause if that wasn't a time bomb on the table I'd be very confident that we could tip over capitalism like Homer Simpson pushing over a tired boxer in a few decades if climate fascism wasn't pretty much a guarantee

Next one up is where they ban the use of pronouns in schools.

[–] tocopherol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 33 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Just all pronouns, no referring to anyone by anything, not even "I" or "me", it's heathenism.

[–] IMF_DOOM@hexbear.net 30 points 1 year ago

desantis is actually a woke maoist accelerationist for introducing all the kids to communist theory and then to exclusively refer to each other as "Comrade"

I wonder how any teacher could get around those standards. Perhaps by doing the bare minimum? Maybe it'll be as drab and forgettable as 12th grade government/economics. I mean they already serve an anti communist unction in a way, along with teaching Eric Blair in freshman English.

[–] keepcarrot@hexbear.net 28 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It would depend on specifics of the bill and the school boards. Most teachers I imagine are libs and so would be fine teaching Orwell if not the Black Book.

Having teachers be hostile to a curriculum means that you wind up with school board members showing up to read off a paper for 45 minutes.

Some teachers are pretty cool, but teaching leaves little time/energy for self education outside of their subjects, so they wind up being a time capsule of popular approachable radical opinions just before they started teaching full time.

Reminds me of this little essay by David Graeber: Are You An Anarchist? The Answer May Surprise You!

In particular this part:

Do you really believe those things you tell your children (or that your parents told you)?

“It doesn’t matter who started it.” “Two wrongs don’t make a right.” “Clean up your own mess.” “Do unto others...” “Don’t be mean to people just because they’re different.” Perhaps we should decide whether we’re lying to our children when we tell them about right and wrong, or whether we’re willing to take our own injunctions seriously. Because if you take these moral principles to their logical conclusions, you arrive at anarchism....

Like we start off teaching children to be social, and cooperative, and good, and then at some point during their development a switch flips in our brains, and we start telling them to COMPETE! To WIN! To climb on the backs of their peers in order to survive and thrive under capitalism. Well, Fred, I know I told you a year ago that you should share your toys, but things are different now. Now you should hoard them, and shove any kid who tries to touch them down the nearest flight of stairs! That's just what it takes to survive in this world. SorryIdon'tmaketherules.
