i haven't been using the site much recently. i just logged on for the first time in a few days and i'm seeing so, so many awful posts. this place used to be a really great community, but if it's going to be mingled with shit like this, it's kind of useless. having to constantly educate libs kind of defeats the purpose of hexbear,no?

Press the "Local" tab on the page

it's going to show only hexbear posts to you then. You're still going to see libs wandering in once in a while, but they'll get smothered by the cuddle-puddle real quick meow-hug

I've seen some folks say that some lemmy apps let you block entire instances, which i suppose means you could block every instance we've federated with. the problem is at this point it seems like other instances and federation are the only things we're really talking about anymore.

https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/469297-block-lemmy-instances

This script lets you block comments from an instance, although it's a block list not an allow list, so you'll have to grab the list of instances from hexbear.net/instances and add whatever ones you want to block.

YearOfTheCommieDesktop wrote a script for violentmonkey that automatically collapses comments from instances not hexbear or lemmygrad.

Not yet, but hopefully in the future. I'd like to see the increase as well (or user highlighting by instance)

Wait but I'm trying to use this power for good
