Donald Trump argued that a GOP budget bill should help only Republican states instead of benefiting Democratic governors.

"We're going to make a couple of tweaks," Trump said of his "one big beautiful bill" during a Tuesday trip to Capitol Hill. "I mean, we don't want to benefit Democrat governors, although I would do that if it made it better, but they don't know what they're doing."

"We want to help all the states, but we have governors that are from the Democrat [sic] party, let's say New York, Illinois, big ones, and let's say Gavin 'Newscum,' who's done a horrible job in California."

He's a literal traitor.

Americans are just too stupid to see it in anything but hindsight.

Assuming the fascists don't win and rewrite history, he will be considered a traitor in the history books.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 9 points 4 hours ago

He is objectively the most prolific traitor in American history, and it isn't even close. He's literally worse than ALL other American traitors COMBINED. It's not even a debate.

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

I have been cursed with the foresight of this, sadly.

[–] meep_launcher@lemm.ee 9 points 4 hours ago

When I say "not my president", it's not me refusing to acknowledge Trump's authority/ being a sovereign citizen. It's me saying he is acting in a deliberately antagonist way. He sees us as the enemy. He isn't leading, in fact he's doing the opposite.

Here's what's supposed to be normal: even if you don't vote for someone in office, you are still their responsibility. JB Pritzker still has a responsibility to protect Republicans in Illinois. Greg Abbott still has the responsibility to protect democrats in Texas.

[–] Eddbopkins@lemmy.world 7 points 5 hours ago

so trump is against America. you cant help only half a country and still call your self an American. not in my book. fook you trump.

Every time he says words I wish I'd never been born.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 6 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Wrong perspective. Every time he says words, I wish HE were never born.

It's true, though, I can't watch any extended interview with him, my blood pressure can't take it, and there simply isn't enough liquor in the house to make it through a hour long interview.

[–] LanguageIsCool@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

True. But Trump is also an artifact of the times, not specific to the individual Trump. If it weren’t Trump, there’d likely be another Trump. Or maybe not. In any case, he’s a symptom.

[–] Pnut@lemm.ee 5 points 6 hours ago

He's going by the books. Everyone should know his next move. Everyone keeps thinking someone else is going to do something about it.

Time for articles of impeachment. Or secession.

[–] hexonxonx@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Secession is what Russia is blackmailing him for. Secede MAGA instead.

Elect an alternate president. Reject Donald.

Note that there’s no claim of it helping any people or benefitting constituents, even his own. In this world of narcissism, there’s only “what’s in it for me?” And “how to spite anyone who disagrees with me?”

[–] 13igTyme@lemmy.world 94 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I think the blue states should cut all the funding they provide for the government.

[–] Guns0rWeD13@lemmy.world 31 points 1 day ago (1 children)

balkanization of the united states plays right into putin's best interests. how about we just stack conservative bodies until this country stops being so fucking stupid?

[–] frezik@midwest.social 24 points 1 day ago (4 children)

It's too late for that. Everyone is finding the exit for the USD as the reserve currency. That loss of soft power alone is seismic.

Even just CA would absolutely make an impact.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 1 points 4 hours ago

The whole West Coast should secede, and form an alliance with Canada and Mexico. That would surround about 2/3 of the country with enemy territory, and cut America off from the entire west coast shipping lanes. They could charge America exorbitant tariffs to ship goods through the Rockies.

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 28 points 1 day ago (1 children)

California secession / Calexit would be beautiful. That is how I know it would never happen, even as rest of the US collapses into Gilead.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 10 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Here is the CalExit website. We got 210,000+ signatures through there, probably a bit more through other means. Hopefully Californians would do the right thing and reach the petition's requirement. California should R&D the possibility of secession sooner, rather than have many surprises if later forced into a crisis.

[–] Pandasdontfly@slrpnk.net 5 points 1 day ago

If this were to ever happen in my mind it makes the most sense for Oregon and Washington to come with... Though that's probably too much to ask

Blue states cut off those wankers

They've been stupid and malicious for too damn long. Let them eat their own shit

[–] BlackSheep@lemmy.ca 60 points 1 day ago (6 children)

California, Oregon, Washington. I think you should join Canada! Free Health Care. It’s not perfect, but you won’t lose your house or life savings if you have a health issue.

[–] Jax@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 hours ago

Keep in mind, California has a higher population of Conservatives than the total population of these states: Wyoming, Vermont, Alaska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Delaware, Rhode Island, Montana, Maine, and New Hampshire.

Like, I'm all for it — a lot of trash lives here, though.

California, Oregon, Washington.

New independent country. We'll call ourselves, "North Chile."

[–] kent_eh@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago

California, Oregon, Washington. I think you should join Canada

And if we don't want them?

Even the most left-ish states are still relatively right leaning by Canadian standards.

[–] xyzzy@lemm.ee 37 points 1 day ago (9 children)

Believe me, many of us are down for that. Or the Pacific States of America. Or Cascadia and the Republic of California.

It's the devastating war that would follow that we're nervous about.

[–] BlackSheep@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 day ago (4 children)

And here in Canada, we’re facing threats of annexation and crippling tariffs. From what was our closest neighbour and ally. We’re already devastated.

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 day ago

Michigan still loves you. This is like watching your drunk dad run out onto the little league field and start punching the refs and little kids.

Time for blue states to stop paying federal tax, then.

and we should have seceded and stopped paying fed taxes a long time ago.

at least im doing my part. I can cheat my ass off on my taxes and take payments under the table. they'll be none the wiser. especially now that they've gut the IRS. If that hurts the blue state i live in, fine. like i said, we should have seceded already.

[–] MushuChupacabra@lemmy.world 76 points 1 day ago (2 children)

That must be comforting to hear to republican citizens living in those blue states.

[–] simplejack@lemmy.world 54 points 1 day ago (2 children)

All those red districts in blue states, get ready to get screwed. Trump ain’t helping you.

Let me sure I got this right. Your plan is to take states that don't like you and teach them to be more independent of the federal government, is that correct?

[–] Spiral75@lemmy.world 46 points 2 days ago (3 children)

I live in NC. We have a Dem governor, but the House and Senate are controlled by Republicans. The state has gone to Trump three times. What is his plan with that?

[–] Boddhisatva@lemmy.world 76 points 2 days ago (1 children)

His plan, no matter what he says, is to fuck each and every one of us who isn't already rich and preferably white.
