Problem: 'each other' includes people who support the worst aspects of that corrupt system and, in fact, find it their highest political value to see it perpetuated.

[–] Chainweasel@lemmy.world 32 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

Another problem: those who support the worst aspects of the system are united, those who oppose it are too busy fighting over who's opposed enough to the point that it's impossible to mount any kind of effective response.

[–] InvertedParallax@lemm.ee 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And the system's supporters know the only way to keep winning is to encourage our division.

I'm starting to think the "disorganized left" thing is kinda bullshit. The right clearly has infighting, even at the highest level, and the left has been organizing protest after protest.

[–] Chainweasel@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I can't go a day on lemmy without seeing someone arguing about how people like Sanders and AOC might as well be "liberals" because they're not "true leftists" and how we shouldn't vote for them because they're not far enough left.
We saw it in the 2024 election when people refused to vote at all because Harris wasn't far enough left.
I've seen more people shit talking other left leaning people over single issues than I have any kind of infighting on the right.

[–] agent_nycto@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Sounds like you're spending too much time online and not out talking to groups and people in person. I started volunteering late last year and lefty groups who are actually doing something get along way smoother than people just talking online.

Anarchists, Leftists, Socialists, and Democrats.

What do they all hate 1000X more than they hate eachother?

Trump.

Organized and unified by sheer spite.

[–] agent_nycto@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I'd argue it's not simple spite. Spite implies it's an irrational hatred, being a sore loser. The guy is a danger to pretty much everyone.

[–] Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

1/3 are fascist supporters

1/3 are indifferent (for now)

1/3 care to differing degrees

The good news is that the pro-fascists are outnumbered.

The bad news is that everyone else needs convincing, which can often come off as (and sometimes lead to) infighting.

[–] Sc00ter@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago

To the person you responded to's point tho, that 1/3 that care for differing degree see that fact as a reason to fracture. The people who do care, regardless of how much, cant unite to make any progress. The first 1/3 you mentioned is united and follows orders, so theyre getting their way.

If the third that care can unite, itll be much easier to convince others to care

In fact a core demand of the yellow vest protests were... the lowering of a tax on fossil fuels. I think these guys might be the baddies, actually.

[–] ryathal@sh.itjust.works 0 points 4 weeks ago

Taxing consumer level fuel in the name of climate change is performance art. It's not a major factor and places a burden on those least able to handle it.

[–] PotatoesFall@discuss.tchncs.de 22 points 1 month ago (2 children)

wait did that get edited or did somebody spray "maurice yo" on the arc de triomphe?

[–] fossphi@lemm.ee 9 points 1 month ago

Oh no, it's the Mandela effect

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And if it's the latter, do some people call the sprayer The Space Cowboy?

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Some call him The Gangster of Love

[–] Sterile_Technique@lemmy.world 17 points 1 month ago (2 children)

We don't need angry crowds - those will just be ignored as usual. We need more Luigis.

[–] Obi@sopuli.xyz 11 points 1 month ago

I guess this really depends how big and angry the crowd is.

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's weird to see the Arc de Triomphe without the bit in the middle, busted and hovering in the air.

Cannot believe that's an actual thought, but it's honest.

[–] not_IO@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

what are you referencing haha

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Clair Obscur, a video game that has much of the world raptured in it over the last couple weeks.

[–] Sc00ter@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

You think this picture contains every single person in France?

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

We're not even fighting each other. We're posting online.

America is full of absolute assholes that are tired of being even mildly criticized in online forums for being giant gaping assholes. That's why we elected the asshole king whose whole thing is to endlessly whine and threaten anyone criticizing him for being an asshole.

[–] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

And then many of them voted for the fascist

[–] sunoc@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Évidemment que les bretons de leurs grands morts ont ramenés les drapeaux =D

[–] Goldholz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 month ago

Mein Französischer Freund, noch spreche ich deine Sprache nicht, doch bewundere ich euch. Wir Deutschen haben viel von euch zu lernen. Gemeinsam erreichten wir viel.

get yourself involved in any of the current protests such as No Kings and the Tesla Takedown.

That way you'll be able to help with organization. Then we can engage in a general strike over a list of demands ( starting with ouster of the President)

And if civil war breaks out (say if someone does a you know on you know who of the United States) you'll be the first to know where to deploy.

Do not trust media agencies. They are underreporting protests already, and would rather autocracy over public class consciousness. ETA The newspapers did this in 1930s Germany, favoring NSDAP over the trade unionists, only eventually be seized by Hitler's regime and their owners processed into the concentration camps.

Do not trust the Democratic party who would rather stay in power than see the election reform that is necessary, and are pretending they won't get jailed (or worse) once the White House secures enabling power.

The people are going to have to force regime change or enjoy a new holocaust and expansionist incursion by the US Axis. The monarchists are hoping we'll wait for our representatives to act in our name.

[–] massive_bereavement@fedia.io 9 points 1 month ago

Sorry I don't have enough rights to sit in prison for this

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Another problem, personal and/or vacation time is lacking in the USA. I always admire why and how the French protest.

[–] Hikermick@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

If there was no division there would be no need to protest as we would have voted for the candidates we wanted

[–] roserose56@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Bro! You posted what I commented in a political post couple weeks or months ago!
The USA had, I say had! 2 ways of solving this protest and storming the capital or sitting and spamming online political news all day long. They picked the second one and now the rest of the world suffers reading USA political news all day long.

That's my opinion and downvote me if you want.
ps: It can't get worse than this.

[–] HalfSalesman@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I would have fought with you maybe if some people (supposedly "on my side") had not decided to spitefully activate hard mode.
