And then the attorneys get arrested…?

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 21 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I sure hope the administration listens to the courts. 🤞

I'm also very happy for all the "uncommitted" who wouldn't hold their nose and vote for Harris. Was it worth it? Did you get anything out of your pyrrhic victory?

[–] LucidNightmare@lemm.ee 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Every time someone points out that we have what we have because people couldn't be bothered to show up to vote (there's even some proof!), they always always come out to downvote and try to say that Dems didn't personally roll out a red carpet for them to wine and dine them.

It'd be funny if Kamala had won, but with the reality they allowed, it's quite sad and very embarrassing. Total delusional mentality.

P.S. I know that dems suck, and have been sucking. The choice was HITLER/PUTIN wannabe, or samey samey, with a little sprinkle of better plans than Biden. She even had a website that outlined what her goals were. While Trump, again, just blathered and drooled onto his podium.

Fools, the ones who allowed us here, but fools are hard to get looking at the bigger picture.

try to say that Dems didn't personally roll out a red carpet for them to wine and dine them.

Translation: the Democratic Party wouldn't adopt leftist policy necessary to win.

[–] LucidNightmare@lemm.ee 2 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

yawns

And now you definitely won't be getting any left leaning policy for quite a long time. That plan worked out very well, didn't it?! Now people are getting sent to death camps left and right, your food will now be poisoned, the air you breathe will now be poisoned, the rich are getting yet another tax break under orange mussolini, and here you people are, still trying to make yourselves feel better for a dumbass decision. It would be impressive, if not for the reality of the situation being because of dumbasses who couldn't be bothered to vote, I ALSO have to suffer. So, to anyone who didn't vote, voted for Trump, or voted for third party (heard anything from Jill Stein, yet? LOL), I give a hearty

FUCK. YOU.

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works -1 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Yawn to screaming in one paragraph!

[–] LucidNightmare@lemm.ee -1 points 7 hours ago

It's okay. I know reading and understanding text can be a little hard sometimes. Maybe this will help?

[–] LesserAbe@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Good god, can we focus on the situation in front of us?

I voted for Harris even though she wasn't my preferred candidate, and many others did too. The much more significant problem would be people who voted for Trump, or didn't vote at all. Bashing uncommitted voters doesn't improve our situation.

If the administration doesn't obey the courts we all need to be prepared to take more extreme measures.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works -5 points 1 day ago

I voted for Harris even though she wasn’t my preferred candidate

Good for you. I'm not talking about you then am I?

[–] KAtieTot@lemmy.blahaj.zone -2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If Harris couldn't run a campaign good enough to beat donald trump, that's entirely her own failing.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago (3 children)

How's your vote working out for you?

[–] KAtieTot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I voted for Harris, but she did a fuck of a lot trying to convince me not to.

"I arrested people for smoking pot" "I'm an ex cop" "No, I'm not going to do much about the genocide." "Here's Liz Cheney" "Trans rights aren't important."

It's not really a fucking mystery why she lost.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It’s not really a fucking mystery why she lost.

It genuinely is. It's unimaginable to me that people could be so stupid.

[–] KAtieTot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I literally posted a list of reasons why people didn't vote for Harris.

Running on "I'm not Trump" while also campaigning on a moderate Republican platform, is why she lost. If the election was so important, why didn't she run on electable, popular policies?

It's the DNCs own fault for failing to put out a candidate or campaign that could beat donald trump, world renowned loser and hitler wannabe.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I literally posted a list of reasons why people didn’t vote for Harris.

Uh huh. Which of those were "she wants to be a dictator"? Because that's what she was literally running against. And that's what people didn't fight hard enough against.

[–] KAtieTot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I see you're a patron of the church of willfull ignorance.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 0 points 1 day ago (2 children)

So you don't think the US would be in a better position at all with Harris as president then?

[–] KAtieTot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Nothing I said could possibly be construed to mean that, in any way remotely resembling good faith.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works -1 points 1 day ago

So then it would have been better to vote for Harris then.

[–] CmdrShepard42@lemm.ee 3 points 1 day ago

As if you really care about what position the US is in. You just want to win elections and dont give a shit what happens after. This post is about a guy snatched up off the street and sent to a foreign gulag, yet you haven't uttered a single statement in support of this guy and instead derailed the entire discussion toward your team-sport politics and how upset you are that your team wasn't the winning team, how it's everyone else's fault the team didn't win, how people are stupid for not supporting your team, etc. That's all you care about.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works -4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I voted for Harris

Then I'm not talking about you.

[–] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Except your first and only contribution was a question that contributed fuck all.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 0 points 1 day ago

Well, did you get anything out of your pyrrhic victory?

[–] witheyeandclaw@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 1 day ago

Not great. I live in a state that has been red my entire life so my presidential vote has actually never counted.

[–] CmdrShepard42@lemm.ee 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

How's your vote working out for you?

If sitting idly by while fascism takes over is such a crime then why aren't you holding to task the actual elected representatives from the DNC who not only allow Trump to do whatever he wants but also vote along with Republicans to ensure their bills are passed?

Your argument is akin to those who claim regular people receiving welfare are responsible for all our government's debt while giving a pass to all the wealthy individuals raiding our government coffers. It's complete nonsense.

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

why aren't you holding to task the actual elected representatives from the DNC

Why do you assume they aren't? It is possible to voice dissatisfaction to the DNC for their failings and also voice dissatisfaction to non-voters for theirs. I don't know where this idea comes from that a person can only do one political thing ever. It is very possible to do multiple things.

[–] CmdrShepard42@lemm.ee 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Because they're bending over backward to "white knight" for the Dems and shield them from any criticism here in the comments. They're no different than the MAGA sycophants.

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 1 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Are they? It certainly looks a lot more like they're just refusing to white knight the people who were bending over backwards to boycott the Dems in the face of actual fascism. That's not sycophancy, that's fighting against the "leftists" who poison praxis with vain ideology. A noble contribution to the leftist cause.

[–] CmdrShepard42@lemm.ee 1 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

You were voting for fascism with either one of these candidates. The Dems lost because they're just watered down MAGA at this point, which appeals to no one. They ran yet another shit campaign with a shitty candidate and got Trump elected again, almost as if that was their intent all along, but maybe it's because Harris didn't parade around with the Cheneys enough.

You can't even make a defense for the Dems here other than "they're not Republicans," so maybe you should point that anger toward the very people running the party and making the decisions that make them less appealing than an elderly reality TV host and not at the people who are sick of their shit.

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 1 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

You were voting for fascism with either one of these candidates

Harris told pro-Palestinians protesters to let her finish speaking. Trump stripped their degrees and deported then. Dems are problematic in their own neo-liberal way, but they weren't kidnapping innocent people and shipping them off to Salvadorian death camps. We can criticize the Dems without equating them with the other, much worse major party.

You can't even make a defense for the Dems here other than "they're not Republicans," so maybe you should point that anger toward the very people running the party

Again, I don't know where you get the idea that it's difficult to do both. I've got plenty of anger to go around, and lots of guilty parties that helped get us where we are: the oligarchs themselves, MAGA, non-MAGA that voted R anyway, Congress, SCOTUS, the Biden administration, the DNC, and the abstainers.

Each one deserves their own bespoke ire, delivered in a method suited to reaching them. I point my anger and my words in the same direction. When I'm mad at my senator, I write my senator, and take other actions designed to communicate my disapproval to my senator. This particular space is a hotbed for idealistic, counterproductive leftists. Guess who it's most protective to criticize here?

Why are you here calling people names instead of directing that anger towards the ones responsible?

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago

How’s your vote working out for you?

Not great - a bunch of morons either didn't vote or voted for an authoritarian.
