A lot of teenagers don't like being in photos, I never did. When I got older, I was to lazy to move out of the frame, and charmander aged me was like fuck it life is great

Middle-child syndrome.

Also, this meme makes me want to pirate some Nintendo games. Off to illegally download some roms from 1992. Good time to sell some stock bc as soon as they realized I downloaded SNES Mario All-stars, the market value is gunna crash so hard.

[–] The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago (2 children)

How is Nintendo going to feed its family now?

[–] JPSound@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago (1 children)

In the words of our billionaire elite overlords, "fuck them kids!"

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 4 points 5 days ago

You just triggered Epstein's bones

[–] aoidenpa@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Nintendo is the surname of the founder? Didn't know that.

[–] JPSound@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

First and second name, actually. Nintendo Nintendo was the reason why one of the Mario brothers is named Mario. Mario Mario is based on Nintendo Nintendo.

Gengar is the only Pokémon that comes to mind as not being a clear aesthetic upgrade over its previous evolutionary stage.

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 34 points 5 days ago

Gengar is a recoloured Clefable.

[–] mienshao@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago (4 children)

Are you serious!? First of all, Haunter is indeed S-tier design, but so is Gengar???

Here’s a list of a FEW middle evos who have far better designs than their first/last evos: Wartortle, Dragonair, Arctibax, Dolliv, Rhydon, Dottler — I could go on….!

Am ready, willing, and able to fight to the death over these opinions, so come at me!!!

[–] SatyrSack@lemmy.sdf.org 18 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Going from Haunter to Gengar, they added arms and legs and big square teeth. All of which are functionally unnecessary for a ghost. And the overall aesthetic went from "scary" to "goofy".

[–] PineRune@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago

Goofy kinda makes sense, if you go by their highlight episode they premiered in (not counting ep.1 for Gengar).

[–] idunnololz@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

But they're so cute ♥️

[–] Pandantic@midwest.social 10 points 5 days ago

Dragonair

Yes!! Cute purple snake-dragon > elegant purple snake-dragon > doofy orange off-brand Charizard. 😭

I love the Dratini line, and thus Dragonite by default (and glad it’s popular because we get some great Dratini/Dragonair cards) , but COME ON!!

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago (8 children)

Hermesturtle is a worse design than Blastoise IMO. Looks like water/flying

[–] faltryka@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

There’s a fight here now thanks to you. I just want you to know though, I’m on your side… blastoise > hermesturtle

Rhydon has got to be cheating here. Most of the ones that got evolutions in future generations look worse (see also: Magmortar and Electivire).

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 8 points 5 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Uh, Dragonite exists. Cool blue dragon-snake, cooler blue dragon snake, then bam! Derp the Orange Dragon with a gut, out of nowhere...

[–] vaguerant@fedia.io 5 points 5 days ago

I like a lot of middle evolutions better than final, Charmeleon included. Wartortle with those wing-ears, the Nidoran middle forms are pretty good. Zubat is better than Golbat. Meowth has more going on than Persian which is just any regular cat from Earth. Voltorb is better than Electrode, but in fairness they're both just Pokéballs--I always thought Electrode should have been modeled after a Great Ball or something.

[–] ThatGuy46475@lemmy.world 16 points 5 days ago

Charmander: young and cute

Charizard: powerful grown up

Charmeleon: angsty teenager

[–] PineRune@lemmy.world 19 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I love me some Dark Charmeleon.

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (12 children)

Okay, yeah, you are hitting me right in the feels with the nostalgia. The Pokémon trading game was my jam growing up! I conned more than a few 6 year olds out of their holographic mew and Charizard cards by convincing them my cards were rarer...im not proud of it...well, maybe a little.

Edit: Okay, chill ya'll I did this like once when I was 11. The whole coment was a joke. Do you really think im actually proud of something dumb I did almost 25 years ago? Really think about that for a second. And if you answer yes, this dude is actually proud of that, then your social skills aren't that great.

Yes, Bulbasaur.

[–] Pandantic@midwest.social 15 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I have a Bulbasaur plush, there is a Venusaur plush, all I want is an Ivysaur plush!!

[–] Stalinwolf@lemmy.ca 6 points 5 days ago

Same. Ivysaur is my favorite Pokémon, and it's nigh impossible to find good Ivysaur collectables without searching them out on Etsy or something.

which is weird because meleon is the most fuckable

Hey guys, did you know that in terms of male human and female Pokémon breeding, Vaporeon is the most compatible Pokémon for humans? Not only are they in the field egg group, which is mostly comprised of mammals, Vaporeon are an average of 3"03' tall and 63.9 pounds, this means they're large enough to be able handle human dicks, and with their impressive Base Stats for HP and access to Acid Armor, you can be rough with one. Due to their mostly water based biology, there's no doubt in my mind that an aroused Vaporeon would be incredibly wet, so wet that you could easily have sex with one for hours without getting sore. They can also learn the moves Attract, Baby-Doll Eyes, Captivate, Charm, and Tail Whip, along with not having fur to hide nipples, so it'd be incredibly easy for one to get you in the mood. With their abilities Water Absorb and Hydration, they can easily recover from fatigue with enough water. No other Pokémon comes close to this level of compatibility. Also, fun fact, if you pull out enough, you can make your Vaporeon turn white. Vaporeon is literally built for human dick. Ungodly defense stat+high HP pool+Acid Armor means it can take cock all day, all shapes and sizes and still come for more

I like how this is written with men as the target audience because only men would be this depraved

as a wartortle fan i feel ya

[–] birne@feddit.org 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)
[–] ZoopZeZoop@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Really? Over Squirtle Squad? Not likely. Wartortle is still great, though!

Middle evos tend to be...lackluster. The ones that are just upgrades from the basic, a-b-c like Starters and the Generational Bug. Exceptions like Haunter, Dragonair, exist where the middle evolution stands out from the final form. Last major category is have unique in all 3, because an evo was added later, like Golbat to Crobat and Rhydon to Rhyperior.

The oddest one out is ones where people prefer stage OVER the basic, until the evo. These are like Gothorita, Lampent, and Hattrem.

Pikachu exists like Magmar, and I would say is in the same camp as Golbat where a Baby was added later so the pokemons design stands on its own.

Pre-evo baby pokemon generally do not count towards these because half of everyone forgets them (other than pichu) - they tend to just be Dex filler you forget exists in a box in the games. I don't think they even print baby pokemon in the cards anymore because how non-necessary they are

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I don't think so, looks right to me.

I actually loved my Charmeleon, you can get some great attacks for him that just wipe the floor with everything more or less.

But evolving him was always #1 priority, its true.

Charmeleon is not as cute as charmander, and not as powerful looking as charizard, so it's second place in the things that matter for merch interest.

Cut from the image: a nearly impossible stack of Rule 34

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 2 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Out of curiosity, I checked e6. Charmander, Charmeleon and Charizard have 3.3k, 3.2k and 11k tagged images, respectively.
