Trey Stone and Matt Parker are going to have sooooo much fun with this. 'Member when Comedy Central tried to censor them? They know what they have and I'm here for the fireworks.

[–] capital_sniff@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

What is crazy to me are the lengths that Trump is willing to go to distract from his Epstein debacle. Also, maybe before agreeing to go on South Park Trump should've familiarized himself with their type of show.

[–] themaninblack@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

This is a very Chinese move

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 20 points 1 day ago

Welp, guess political commissars are back.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 227 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Before the second Trump era, it would’ve been seen as a ridiculous violation of the First Amendment to have some kind of monitor making sure the media was being nice to the president.

No. No, it is ridiculous. Don’t pretend it’s fine.

I hope Matt Stone and Trey Parker create no end of shit for Paramount/CBS.

RIP America.

With the multi-billion-dollar deal they just signed, Paramount loses no matter what.

I love it.

[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 29 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yes, those billions of dollars are sure to cause untold sadness among the shareholders.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 30 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I'm referring to the deal Trey an Matt just signed. Firing them will cost billions.

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 13 points 1 day ago

They won't fire them. Trump will just ignore any satire that they throw his... lol, no, he won't. I don;t know how this will go. That's a lot to write off by firing. This could get ugly and go beyond just political and business dealings. "Will someone rid me of these cartoon guys?"

[–] Microw@piefed.zip -4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

They signed a streaming deal. Cancelling the show order would have no impact on that deal whatsoever.

[–] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Which means they get the money but Paramount gets no show to profit from

[–] Microw@piefed.zip 1 points 1 day ago

Yes, Paramount would get no new episodes to profit from, but they would still have the entire backcatalogue to profit from until the timeframe for this deal ends

[–] TheRealKuni@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Part of the deal included 50 new episodes.

[–] ikidd@lemmy.world 58 points 1 day ago

The party of small government, folks.

[–] teawrecks@sopuli.xyz 7 points 1 day ago

I want them to start publishing the exact same hyperbolic stories they do in North Korea about the Kim family. I want to see a "Trump Family Never Poops" headline.

[–] liverbe@lemmy.world 75 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Sure sounds like free speech.

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 24 points 1 day ago

Free speech...with conditions.

[–] Lydia_K@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

Speech will continue to be free as long as you are saying the right things.

(All other speech will be heavily fined)

[–] OrteilGenou@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

Stop oppressing media babysitters!!1!

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 62 points 1 day ago (2 children)

“They made commitments to address bias and restore fact-based reporting. I think that’s so important,” Carr told Newsmax’s Greg Kelly on his show Thursday night.

So sick of these assholes for whom "fact-based reporting" means "lies that promote fascism" and "fake news" means "true reporting."

“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”

— George Orwell, Nineteen Eighty-Four

[–] Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago

CBS was already pretty terrible about giving both sides airtime and attacking both sides equally... even when the evidence was clear that one side was in the wrong or there was additional context left untold. And it has almost always benefited the right when they do that.

So I actually agree. They should go to fact-based reporting. But I'm guessing my idea of fact-based reporting is different from theirs.

So what government offices aren't being weaponized at this point and where are all the small/no interference republicans at?

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 58 points 1 day ago (2 children)
[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 18 points 1 day ago

More like a political commissar...

[–] d00phy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

This is the word.

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 36 points 1 day ago

So sad that the oval office is occupied by such a small, weak man.

[–] Zedd_Prophecy@lemmy.world 38 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I will never watch or support CBS ever again.

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Or paramount

[–] ninjabard@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Got it. Can't offend Glorious Leader. Nazi simps.

[–] Ebby@lemmy.ssba.com 17 points 1 day ago

Does Fox get a babysitter as well to make sure they don't get too pro Trump? Yeaaaaaah........

[–] Dragomus@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

Ah yes, straight out of the dictatorship handbook ...

Everybody look at Russian media ... then North Korean television.
Now look back towards the newly implemented oversight on the American broadcast stations.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

Do they have a red phone with a direct line to the party office?

[–] Kurious84@lemmings.world 6 points 1 day ago

Nose so far up trumps fat brown ass.

[–] AcidiclyBasicGlitch@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

They should just fire all the news anchors and replace them with one pro-anchor who knows exactly what she's doing.

Show 'em how it's done, Ri

[–] MapleEngineer@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

In communist Russia these people were called KGB Political Officers.

Let's normalize calling them MAGAzi Political Officers.

[–] Regna@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

In the image it seems as if he is trying to ensure that the party line isn’t merely choking him, but maybe rewarding his fetishes.
