Funny how congress can investigate him but not trump. Funny how they can issue a summons to him, and expect him to comply, but thy can't do anything in America to the shut show going on in the streets

It’s past time to replace these old ass clowns destroying our economy, livelihoods, and morale.

Keep voting them OUT!

[–] dual_sport_dork@lemmy.world 33 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Obligatory XKCD insertion.

This is one of those rare cases where regardless of where you place the hyphen, "old-ass clowns" or "old ass-clowns," both are accurate descriptions of the clowns in question.

...for today's other lucky 10,000, I now present xkcd #1053

[–] QuarterSwede@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I love XKCD. Hadn’t seen that one. Thanks.

They did investigate Trump and they know that he's deeeep in it and that's why GOP really doesn't want it coming out.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Good distraction. Hey look we're defending children!

[–] wewbull@feddit.uk 1 points 1 week ago

Doesn't interviewing a potential witness count as investigating Trump?

[–] vk6flab@lemmy.radio 46 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So .. the US Congress can just summon a citizen from a different country .. and the citizen is compelled to .. do what exactly?

[–] dual_sport_dork@lemmy.world 50 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Nothing, which is why the letter phrases it as a "request."

In order to be extradited he'd have to actually be charged with a specific crime, insofar as I am aware.

[–] vk6flab@lemmy.radio 9 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Charging him with a crime sounds like a good start .. though I doubt that will happen anytime soon.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Maybe if we got a hold of those damn Epstein files...!

It's possible that they specifically won't in order to get info on others. But that's me being optimistic

[–] LordMayor@piefed.social 29 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Come on, Andy. Let the bitterness and shame spur your desire to lash out and hurt someone. Tell all and watch the place burn. Imagine walking into the US capitol building and dropping napalm in front of the world.

You think you’re fucked? Watch what happens to the USA when you prove who their President really is. At least a third of their heads will explode and the rest will just ignore you while they dance around the carnage and point fingers.

It will be glorious.

He is going to still protect whatever privileges he still enjoys. He doesn't give a shit about Trump or any other pedophile seeing any kind of justice. He just wants to keep himself as safe as he can.

[–] essell@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago (2 children)

This reminds me of that bit near the end of RoboCop, where Dick Jones is immune to consequences whilst he's part of the firm.

As soon as the old man fires him, the law can act 😁

I doubt congress is going to shoot him but I can wish.

Gonna have a rum and coke and watch RoboCop tonight, been years since I've seen it.

"I had to kill Bob Morton because he made a mistake. Now it's time to erase that mistake."

[–] MalikMuaddibSoong@startrek.website 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Don't you get it? You cocksucker! I work for Dick Jones! Dick Jones! He's the Number Two Guy at OCP. OCP runs the cops.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago

"You're a cop. Cop! Dumbass."

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago

Nah, he'll just fall out of a window after surviving several self-inflicted bullet & stab wounds. 🤷🏼‍♂️

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I seriously doubt he will follow that summoning. He won't rat on his co-rapists, as this would implicate himself. He still denies any wrongdoing.

And while I would not put it beyond the American government to send special forces to Windsor in order to abduct him, the UK would not take this lightly, even with a disgraced member of the family.

How about summoning American citizens residing in the US first? There are more than enough known from the Epstein case who could give answers. Start with "president" Trump.

[–] AlexLost@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I believe he has been removed from all his titles to avoid drawing the family into the drama. It signals something is actually shifting behind the scenes to me. I don't think he's gonna get family support for this. Luckily he is still fabulously wealthy on his own. This has gotten so big it can't be stopped, only delayed. Those delaying tactics are also wearing thin. Keep up the pressure folks!!

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

While he has been stripped of almost all titles (some are not bestowed by the king, so there is some external bureaucracy involved that is still on it), the British might still be pissed if the 'mericans abduct a brother of the king.

[–] oftenawake@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 week ago

Particularly as we're probably planning to prosecute him ourselves in Britain. It'll take a while but people here are pissed off that the "punishment" so far is to be stripped of some bullshit titles and get to live as an immensely wealthy member of the public. He's going to prison because wealthy pedos are universally detested here and he can't become president in order to dodge prosecution.

Also, I've had a tinfoil hat itch in the back of my head that the US may be giving allies time to sort their affairs before proceeding with the Epstein case, but I don't put much stock into it as we live in the dysfunctional timeline.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

The government that needs its shit sorted most isn't US allies

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 4 points 1 week ago

That's mighty considerate of them, I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that the current president of the United States is undoubtedly all over the files.

[–] ServantOfRa@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 1 week ago

The wheels on the bus go round and round

Andrew visited and stayed with Epstein after Epstein was released from prison for raping kids.

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 8 points 1 week ago

Cool. We'll swap him for that cunt that ran over a cyclist and then fled back to the US.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He's still denying it so I won't expect much. And it's telling Congress can agree on his appearance but not on releasing the files.

[–] aeternum@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 week ago

Yeah but that would implicate dear leader dumpy. Ofc they can’t release it /s

[–] ruuster13@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 week ago

Mountbatten?? This just keeps getting worse.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 1 week ago

ooh, summoning like a summoning circle incantation.

[–] WhatGodIsMadeOf@feddit.org 2 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Is that his name????

Are names like that common there?

[–] oftenawake@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Names like that are not common here.

Besides their real family name is "Saxe-Coburg and Gotha" but it was changed to Windsor in 1917 due to WW1 resentment towards the Germans.

At least we got the following joke in (famous British TV series) Blackadder:

"Look, I'm as British as Queen Victoria!"

"So your father's German, you're half-German and you married a German?!"

[–] Snapz@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Calling some random English nobody? Isn't everyone in England a duke or a count or some type of fancy title carrier?

This guy is just... Andrew? Okay.

[–] SereneSadie@lemmy.myserv.one 5 points 1 week ago

As of the past few days, yes.

I wish it felt more satisfying than this.

[–] balance8873@lemmy.myserv.one 2 points 1 week ago

That's Andy to his co-rapists
