Higher quality non-failed censorship version

[–] kamen@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I think it's not censorship, just intentionally masking it like this, probably to avoid it being immediately flagged by OCR.

Yeah, okay, I'll somewhat agree on that one, but I was commenting on the "failed" part - it's not like someone else (or OP from the screenshot) was unsuccessful in masking it - it was deliberately masked enough to mess with automated flagging systems, but not enough to even start being ambiguous or unclear (like it would be with actual censorship). So... "task failed successfully"? I dunno.

I think the most interesting thing about drug markets is how stable they are compared to real life markets. Even as the currency deflates drugs maintain their value over the years.

I'd have upvoted if it weren't for the annoying pointless blur.

Your gentle reminder for today to always censor yourself.

I am sure there has to be some significance to this non-censor that is so common. Like a very thin line that doesn't cover the word or a single dot that partly covers a single letter. Maybe seeing who complains to distinguish people and bots?

[–] MummysLittleBloodSlut@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It's to get past AI censors. It's like a captcha for reading swear words.

[–] floquant@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

No AI or basic OCR would fail to recognize the words. Oldschool captchas have been inefficient at stopping bots for years now

[–] ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Is it any different than censored words in TV shows or movies? You hear pretty much the entire word with just a single syllable beeped out that for me at least immediately fills with the correct syllable effectively making the censorship pointless.

I'm going to need to see a business plan when it comes to selling crack.

[–] YellowParenti@lemmy.wtf 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)
  1. Buy as much coçaine as you can
  2. Stir up with baking soda
  3. Put in the oven @450 for 30 minutes
  4. Taste for donéness (add sugar if you like)
  5. Sell whatever is left from you 3 day crack binge with a healthy profit margin
  6. ??? ⁷. Repeat
[–] some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm autistic, so I'm going to need specifics on that cocaine to baking soda ratio

[–] YellowParenti@lemmy.wtf 3 points 2 days ago

3:1 and slowly add heat to get your cookies

[–] NateNate60@lemmy.world 26 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I don't know; if we get found out, we might be on the hook for a lot of value-added tax.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 18 points 3 days ago (1 children)

In my country it would be 24%

if you source the crack from a VAT paying business you get a refund on that bit. Which isn't much.

The question is if you're selling it for 5000 + VAT or 5000 including VAT. B2B sellers usually list their prices the first way, B2C the second way.

In the US you are famously required to report income from illegal sources on your taxes, which was famously Al Capone's downfall

the Sixteenth Amendment, which allows Congress to levy an income tax, comes into conflict with the Fifth Amendment, which includes a right against self-incrimination. The conclusion of the matter is unsurprising; it would be absurd to exempt criminals from reporting income on their tax forms while asking it of honest workers. However, Fifth Amendment privilege allows one to report illegal income without revealing its precise source.
