Trump will get that peace prize by hook or by crook even if he has to forcefully take it from the latest winner. It's not about the oil or Maduro. /s

"I love peace. I don't care how many men, women, and children I need to kill to get it." ~~Peacemaker~~ Trump

its also to distract from his epstein files revelations, everytime something new comes out, trump react similarly with "distract and look over here at venuezula, ICE, his health gaffes"

War has always been a racket when waged by the West. 😔

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 28 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Just the west? lol

All non-defensive wars are a racket.

Agreed, agreed. 🙏

There's a case to be made for defensive wars as well.

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Maybe... if there was an easy way to avoid them that wasn't taken. But I'm not sure I'd say that applies to all of them. Sometimes you have to defend yourself. It gets muddy because the con artists will often cry self self defense when they are the aggressors.

I was thinking more about the weapon suppliers maximising profits at the expense of human lives.

War has always been a racket, since long before the west was a thing.

Killing people so you can take their stuff dates back to at least our last common ancenstor with chimpanzees.

Pressure campaign is even savvier than special military operation.

9/11 was a happy accident that led to the most prosperous time in the world for the military industrial complex because it was remarkably easy to manufacture consent for a 20 year war in the wake of such an incident. Now that that’s over Boeing, Lockheed, et al are salivating at the idea of a new “intervention” that gives an excuse to keep raising the us military budget by billions to literal trillions of dollars.

They saw the writing on the wall in the early 2000s and did nothing to stop bin Laden. Ramzi yousef planned 9/11 (bojinga) and was caught during a test bombing, the intel was sat on by Clinton and bush. This is not a secret conspiracy, Clinton writes about it as a regret in his biography because optics forced him to do so. He literally had folders on his desk warning him about the potential of an attack but he was too busy grooming and raping interns to deal with it. Bush too, but he was just evil and wanted it to happen.

If 9/11 didn’t happen the likely outcome would’ve been pressure to start shrinking the military budget. Why not? Desert storm was a decade earlier and America was essentially seen as invulnerable at the time. The military budget even then was obscene. But 9/11 gave a pretense to go wild. If you disagreed then you must think America deserves to experience another 9/11! Don’t pay attention to the wildly inflating budgets, patriot act, Wikileaks, or what Snowden said

With the Afghanistan/Iraq nonsense officially “ended” the same problem arises, except faster because information travels much quicker than 1993-2001. Eventually people will realize we spend more money on defense than the next 5 nations in the world combined, which includes China and Russia. People will realize their tax dollars aren’t going to their kids schools, or to the roads that haven’t been repaired in 2 decades, or to the crumbling above ground power lines that are dangerous and subject to inclement weather, they overwhelmingly go to military contractors for Israel’s genocide and Ukraine's nato proxy war.

As a result intervention in Venezuela is likely inevitable. It’s classic playbook. They have oil, which is a huge incentive for the gop morons that are fine with the world burning. Drug trafficking does occur through Venezuela, like every country, and the CIA and DEA want control of those routes because they are corrupt. They’re in Latin America, and American imperialism is no stranger to destabilizing that region. But even if none of this were true it doesn’t matter because the military industrial complex needs a sacrifice to keep their profits rising

A simple guideline: Live your life in such a way that your death doesn't spawn a national day of celebration.
