Reminder that the President of the United States is profoundly mentally ill

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 43 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That reminder is daily, if not more frequently. So let's start talking about the people who are 'pulling the puppet's strings'.

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 13 points 1 week ago (2 children)

String pullers, and those going along with it because they think they'll get something out of it at the cost of the country's decline.

We're going to need a wall. A long one.

Isn't there some kind of protocol for if the president is unable to perform his duties due to insanity?

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 14 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

The 25th was written to be used for incapacity, and an insane but active president can defeat it. If his cabinet members declare him incapable, all he has to do is write a letter saying "Nuh-huh, I'm fine" and that's the end of it. The amendment wasn't intended to deal with mental illness. More like "POTUS in a coma."

If they want him out, they should impeach him.

Not to quibble but maybe he's developmentally disabled? He just ain't grow right. In the head.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

As the philosopher Hank Hill said...

Yes to this but veto to block a freshwater pipeline for 50,000 residents

(official reason: waste of taxpayer money, real reason: govnor hurt his fragile ego)

[–] NOT_RICK_SANCHEZ@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago

Call me petty, but it was going to red areas of Colorado which voted for him so no real loss at the end of the day.

GOP: “We save you money by negligently & maliciously depriving the citizens & residents of the USA of basic necessities for health (while making a hefty little profit for ourselves!)”

DC needs protected bike lanes not an arch

[–] tburkhol@lemmy.world 24 points 1 week ago

Hey, I've been reading where a couple 5 pound bags of sugar in a concrete mixer will greatly delay setting, and may or may not significantly compromise the strength. A few liters of cola may be even worse.

Thought at first this was an Onion article.

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 22 points 1 week ago

We're in The Onion Timeline. Nuttier than a fruitcake, and just as stale, dense, and sickly sweet.

[–] Not_mikey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 41 points 1 week ago (1 children)

First the military parades, now this. He thinks he's giving Napoleon energy when he's really giving kim family energy, who have their own arch which is :

The structure is modeled after the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, but is 10 metres (33 ft) taller.

So you know this arch de trump will be 10 meters higher than Kim's.

[–] INHALE_VEGETABLES@aussie.zone 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The parade was a joke and he will never have any arch, don't stress. He couldn't even build one wall.

If I was American, I would be more worried about filling the enormous concrete slab a few years from now.

The one left where the east wing was.

Fiscal responsibility, right here people.

[–] BigBenis@lemmy.world 33 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Trump doesn't seem to understand that the existing presidential monuments were built posthumously and by popular opinion in order to honor exceptional leaders. His desperate attempts to plaster his name on random bullshit is pathetic. I hope once he finally kicks the bucket that we quickly rename these monuments to honor his victims. I wish he could be alive to see it.

Donald j Trump, current president of the United States of America and best friend of Jeffrey r Epstein rapes children and wants to build a monument to his deeds.

[–] INHALE_VEGETABLES@aussie.zone 11 points 1 week ago

"The Donald Trump Rape Cave" didn't quite have the same ring to it.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 26 points 1 week ago (2 children)

What is he tearing down this time?

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 32 points 1 week ago (1 children)
[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 week ago

That's why Putin put him in. Even if Trump isn't knowingly a saboteur, his brainlessness, weakness and incompetence still get the job done.

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 6 points 1 week ago

Well, there was an article the other day about 13 government buildings he wanted to tear down and preservationists were fighting back, but I thought he wanted to build the arch on the Mall

[–] MushuChupacabra@lemmy.world 25 points 1 week ago

Alternately,, they could impeach Trump, then start the long process of restoring everything that he vandalized.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Trump's Triumphal arch is a joke, it has no symbolism of any value, where for instance the French "Arc de triomphe de l'Étoile" has double significance as praising the success of the Napoleon army, and as a symbolic memorial place for the unknown soldier, and today it has become a historic landmark.

What Trump is doing is putting up a huge piece of garbage of no value and slab his own name on it.
It's a cheap copy of "the original" in Paris, both in concept and design. Much like a cheap Chinese copy of a Vuitton designer piece.
Trump has no style and no class, only someone completely without any sense of either could think such a project is cool.

[–] fizzle@quokk.au 8 points 1 week ago

For a non-American it really is pretty hilarious.

Someone building things to honor themselves is just shameless, it really is. Anyone who supports him in any way, even passively or tacitly, is also shameless.

[–] sik0fewl@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 week ago

Triumphal arches go back to at least the Romans, so the one in Paris is nothing close to the original. It's a copy, as well.

Cai reached Trump by phone at Mar-a-Lago and asked when he expected work to begin.

“It hasn’t started yet. It starts sometime in the next two months. It’ll be great. Everyone loves it,” replied Trump. “They love the ballroom too. But they love the Triumphal Arch.”

Super demented

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Spray painted gold!

With a second right next to it!

And free hamberders below for everyone! But we'll also promise them ice cream, and when they ask for it, we'll always tell them the machines broke.

Haha, welcome to Hell.

Is he just going to keep picking other country's monuments he likes and make his own bootleg version of it in Washington?

Looking forward to the Trump Mahal, Sizeable Bob, Christopher the Coupon Redeemer, DC Tower and the Slanted Tower of Pizza.

What's he got to be triumphant about?

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 33 points 1 week ago (2 children)

He raped all those children and was never brought to justice for it.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 week ago

He also actually might be net positive and a real billionaire now that he has grifted with his crypto so hard.

Will there be a fake gold statue of Dear Leader? And every loyal American will be expected to make a pilgrimage to kiss its peen, just $99.99 admission.

[–] CircaV@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 week ago (2 children)

It’s got to Come down with chisels and hammers after he’s deposed - right?? Or will the American state protect its dictator after the fact too??

[–] madcaesar@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

I've voted Democrat all my life, but I swear to God if the next Democratic president doesn't go full scorched earth on all the Trump bullshit, I'm fully done with them.

I literarily will give no shits anymore, another Biden let's move on and hold hands after this fascist asshole is unacceptable.

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 6 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Or will the American state protect its dictator after the fact too??

"In order for the country to heal after such a divisive President. I am pardoning President Donald Trump and his entire adminstration. All projects started by President Bonald Trump will be finished, This is the only way we can come together as a country."

Good. I hope it’s gigantic. I hope this country never forgets that generations of opulence and greed created this criminal psychopath.

[–] adespoton@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 week ago

JD Vance needs to make a triumphal arch right beside Trump’s.

Then they can build a fast food restaurant behind them.

[–] y0kai@anarchist.nexus 8 points 1 week ago

Didn't Saddam Hussein have one of these made of giant sabres?

[–] Dragomus@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

Ah yes the golden arches right on the lawn of the white house.

Just so if one wants a view of the WH you have to peek past the arch of annoyance.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Where are all of the workers in the east wing now? Probably a construction trailer.
