Donald Trump told The Wall Street Journal in an interview published Thursday that he takes a higher dose of aspirin than his doctors have recommended, blaming that for the visible hand bruises that have generated renewed questions about his health.

The interview appeared to be one of the most extensive conservations Trump has had with journalists on his health, as scrutiny has intensified this year over his age, fitness for office and whether he’s being sufficiently transparent with his medical information.

Trump has long had bruising on his right hand, which CNN has reported predated his return to the White House. But it drew more attention after he began trying to cover it with heavy makeup and bandages and shield it from cameras with his other hand. Observers have also raised concerns about swelling in his legs and his appearing to doze during public events.

Cool story bro.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 10 points 8 hours ago

It'd be nice if it gave him an ulcer, that then got perforated.

But it's more likely he's just lying yet again.

[–] IEatDaFeesh@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

Make sure to use that horse dewormer.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 9 hours ago

I hope he's in constant pain

[–] OhStopYellingAtMe@lemmy.world 16 points 10 hours ago (3 children)

I hope he dies in the stupidest, most humiliating way possible. And soon.

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 5 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago) (1 children)

I don’t. I hope he strokes out and becomes trapped in his own body. I want MAGA to see a frail, weak, pathetic flesh bag.

[–] SoloCritical@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

I don’t love this comment.. it implies people who have had a stroke are frail, weak and pathetic. Although I share your disdain for Trump, I’m not sure I agree with this particular sentiment.

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 1 points 40 minutes ago

I wasn’t implying anything. This is the outcome from HIS stroke I want to see.

[–] Mr_Dr_Oink@lemmy.world 5 points 9 hours ago

Accidentally shits his pants in a mcdonalds and the sudden change in pressure in his body causes his organs to collapse all at once and as he falls to the floor, with his dying breath, he exclaims:

"doctors tell me i have the best death, actually, some say , in the world. They dont make deaths like they used to, but im bringing them back, good deaths, they will be back, they will come back, the good deaths, i think, like rambo. It'll be like the movies, with the action hero... err... the guys with the guns, they dont get hit, the hullets just miss em, like me. Bullets cant get me, they tried to do it, i was on stage, it was a BIG event and the democrats, biden, they tried to shoot me. They failed, they missed, because they needed republican guns. If that was a republican they wouldnt have missed, my brains would be all over the crowd behind me. They would have needed staws to clean it all up, so i am bringing back plastic straws, not those paper ones, they fall apart in your mouth....."

Reports of the rest of what he said differ vastly.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 2 points 8 hours ago

I hope it's of natural causes on live TV

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago

Because manly men can’t listen to doctors; they have to exceed the dosage!

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 33 points 17 hours ago

Take more. Don't let those quacks tell you what to do. More.

[–] archonet@lemy.lol 65 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

JUST DIE ALREADY GOD DAMNIT.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 3 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Embroider this on a pillow.

[–] LaunchesKayaks@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

I can't embroider, but I can make a cute lil cross stitch of it

[–] cecilkorik@piefed.ca 34 points 20 hours ago (3 children)

Since Tylenol apparently causes autism, can we now decide that Aspirin causes dementia? Just curious.

[–] Sterile_Technique@lemmy.world 24 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

It can cause internal bleeding, so if he's being stupid with the dose, then things like bleeding out in his sleep might be feasible.

2026 might be a good year after all!!

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 18 hours ago (4 children)

Yeah, because JD Couchfucker would be so much better.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 10 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

He is probably worse, but he doesn't really hold any political capital so it's probably way better. Once JD is in the hot seat I bet every dubiously legal thing the admin has done falls in his lap and he gets impeached.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 3 points 8 hours ago

Peter Theil OWNS Vance, and keeps him on a short leash. If Vance becomes president, Theil will be running the show.

[–] mean_bean279@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

He would remove most tariffs and the economy, because it was already short of picking up before tariffs, would bounce back and likely do well. Because of that he would likely be looked at as making things “better“ and then we would end up with another 6 years of MAGA republicans. Because of that we will not see him in any legal hot seat. It’s just wishful thinking. Nothing in the last 10 years has shown it would turn into anything good for the “left” rather than just backfire.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 4 points 8 hours ago (5 children)

And the last 10 years have been dominated by trump, trump is politics.

Also the damage is done, it would take decades to repair what was done. Its not just a switch, especially with extent they have gone so far. Trade deals have been ripped up, basically all soft power was eliminated by DOGE, government has been looted, new trading relationships have been established between nations, nations are starting to turn away from the dollar. And all that debt won't go away.

Prices don't go down. The US stock market is propped up by GPU sales to people who can't even use them and the assumption that they will keep buying more even though it's near impossible to even obtain the energy to plug them in, let alone have a real use case for profitability.

Whoever is in charge after Trump is going to have real work. It will take terms before this is repaired, if it even can be. Realistically all this comes down to is a need for a massive redistribution of wealth. And it would all technically need to happen with Congress driving it.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 7 hours ago

If the next few elections see an increase in Progressives in the House and Senate, and they spend their first efforts crushing and purging MAGA from the government and our society, then we can at least start turning things around. But we will never fix this country, or even get on track to do that, if we have MAGA constantly giving everything to the Sociopathic Oligarchs.

[–] mean_bean279@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

I agree with your sentiment, but American voters only care about whatever happened in short term memory. I’d love to believe that somehow Trump has that level of a hold, but I don’t think he does if he isn’t here. I think his supporters move on, and I think if Vance is in power it turns worse for all of us given history, but I’d love to be wrong.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 hours ago

I mean one of us will be proven right eventually. Because if Trump survives and if they even do a primary we will see if Vance can win.

The sad reality is that things are on track to get worse for Americans no matter who is in charge unless there is some miraculous change in Congress which would require sweeping wins for Democrats 2 election cycles in a row and a shit load of corrupt dinosaurs on both sides being primaried.

[–] Sterile_Technique@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

Unironically, probably yes.

He would still be shit, but worse than or even equal to Trump is pretty hard to imagine.

In any case, I refuse to place any value on the life of a tyrant over speculation on the next tyrant in line. May they all die as early as possible - and may the rest of us actually grow a spine and finally break out the guillotines to speed things along.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 3 points 13 hours ago

Yeah but the cult doesn't like him do they. They still blame him for not supporting the insurrection.

He's not good at the mad hatter routine that Trump pulls off but also not competent enough to actually be an effective president. I was watching a video the other day and it randomly had a clip of George Bush Jr in it. It was weird watching it because he sounded entirely intelligent, perfectly coherent and totally competent. That's what comparison does for you I guess.

God I can hear the speech now…

THE LIBERAL MEDIA TOOK OUR LORD AND SAVIOR DONALD J TRUMP IN HIS SLEEP. THE CONSTANT FIGHTING AND REPEATED ATTACKS ON OUR HERO AFTER YEARS OF MAKING THIS COUNTRY GREAT AGAIN WERE TOO MANY FOR THE GODKING

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 3 points 13 hours ago

Immediately followed by an advertisement to buy the Donald Trump commemorative plate.

That’s a good idea; I’m thinking Trump should probably take 4x-5x daily just to be on the safe side.

[–] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 33 points 23 hours ago (6 children)

It would probably be safer with some warfarin on board, too.

Aspirin is a blood thinner I have no idea why Americans seem to think it's a painkiller, because it isn't.

If you overdose on them your blood turns to water this is not a good thing for so many reasons but it's extra bad for the elderly since their veins are kind of leaky anyway. Fortunately it's Trump we're talking about so no one cares.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 13 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago)

What are you talking about? Aspirin is absolutely a pain killer. It's an NSAID that also has blood thinning properties.

The doses used for long term blood thinning is at least 50% lower than the dose used for pain relief.

[–] stickly@lemmy.world 6 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Aspirin is a blood thinner I have no idea why Americans seem to think it's a painkiller, because it isn't.

Because a blood thinner relieves some common pains like headaches and inflammation. But yes, people do think taking more = less pain which isn't really true.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

It relieves headaches because it relieves pressure.

[–] stickly@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

Well yes it has quite a few different mechanisms, but the most prominent ones are related to blood clotting, inflammation and fever responses. Those work in different ways depending on what you're trying to treat, so you may be right there.

It's not a pain killer in the same sense as an opioid, but the minor pain relief (via targeting symptoms) is the main desired effect. That makes people misuse it and think higher doses work better and for any type of pain.

He must think there’s somebody stupid enough out there to believe what he had to say.

Then again, tens of millions of people did vote for him…

Shaking hands doesn’t cause that type of bruising on the back of the hand, and neither does aspirin. You know it does? IV needles, which are, not infrequently, inserted into veins on top of the hand.

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 33 points 1 day ago

He must think there’s somebody stupid enough out there to believe what he had to say.

There are 77 million of them.

Heh.

Don’t hold back Donald. What’s worse is I heard not taking aspirin causes autism. Better load up.
