Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

If your iris is secreting milk, or a milk like liquid, you should probably go to the doctor.

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 17 points 3 weeks ago

My irises have leaked as much milk as my nipples so that checks out.

[–] rockerface@lemmy.cafe 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

What if my nipples are absorbing light?

[–] spazzman6156@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 weeks ago

Most nipples do absorb some light

[–] remon@ani.social 20 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Except that way fewer people enjoy having them licked.

Well, that enough internet this morning. Thanks for inspiring me to get my day started.

It's an ancient 4chan staple from waaay back when it was actually worth going there.

Fair. I meant it relatively.

Wasn't there a scene in Aeon Flux similar to this?

[–] usualsuspect191@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

There's the "alien" that wants to swap eyes with Aeon but she's not into it, and Trevor later does.

Edit: Season 3 Episode 10, "End Sinister"

[–] rhythmisaprancer@piefed.social 1 points 2 weeks ago

It took me awhile, but what I was thinking of was from season 2 episode 1, "gravity" and really isn't related here except for the tongue 🫣 I guess it has been too long... Thanks for dragging me into some memories ❤️

[–] db2@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

There's the fly scene in the opener

[–] bhamlin@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Is that... John K Peta?

Many moons ago, I've read a translation of a Japanese short story, which stipulated that a pastime among Japanese youth is having one person repeatedly lick an eyeball of another, whereupon the recipient begins experiencing special effects, iirc described as seeing diamonds in the sky.

As an aficionado of various psychologically surreal shit, I'd be glad to find this story again, but the chances are slim. It might've been written by Kobo Abe, as I discovered his work at about the same time and space, but I have doubts about that.

I see you haven't met lizard people yet.

More like areola. The nipple is missing.

[–] janonymous@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

My bad. I meant the cornea

[–] untorquer@quokk.au 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The nipple is the aperture of the breast

[–] Mowcherie@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

So in that sense the pupil is thr nipple of the eye, because that is the aperture. Perfect logic.

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago

I’ve got irises. Can you milk me, Greg?

[–] caseyweederman@lemmy.ca 8 points 3 weeks ago

There we go. We're back on track.

[–] kcweller@feddit.nl 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Hard disagree, the nipple would be the cornea.

[–] janonymous@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Your absolutely right!

[–] TehBamski@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

sigh Please get off Lemmy, grandpa.

[–] Por_que_pine@startrek.website 5 points 2 weeks ago

An eyereola?

[–] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

Hold that thought and go see an ophthalmologist before you act on it.

[–] sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 weeks ago

Not saying that is free. You're allowed to just not say it, any time you want
