The first time I heard the "two wolves" thing, circa 2004, it blew my mind, so profound & thought-provoking.
Now it would feel condescending if a therapist threw it at me.

Making a link between innovation on the internet and yaoi being a new word to someone seems to convey that the word must have appeared a few years ago. Being at least as old as the early 2010s, and probably much older, I didn't check, makes it a long time ago by comparison.
