The only way out of this I see is to drive a wedge between billionaire oligarchs and this administration. Seems like a smart move.

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Deadpan voice: oh. No. Please don’t.

[–] knotRyder@lemmy.ca 24 points 16 hours ago

I see Iran has taken lessons in the "get the world to like you" class

[–] Jumi@lemmy.world 37 points 19 hours ago

Don't threaten me with a good time

Seems more like they are calling their shots to show the US military cant stop them. "9 ball, corner pocket".

As a counter to their swagger, I say we surround those buildings with our well-trained and highly-competent ICE agents. As the missiles rain down they can shoot them out of the sky with their rifles. Its worth a try.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 16 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

And the more ICE agents the bigger the chance it will work.

[–] billybob@lemmy.zip 9 points 21 hours ago

I know they’re both fired but being the patriots they are I bet Kristi Noem and Pam Bondi would be willing to help out as well. Hell you know Pete Hegseth would do wonders for this country if he was over there. Send the whole crew over. It would be the most patriotic thing Trump could do.

Do it and nothing of real value to humanity will be lost.
Except of course the monetary value of the AI chips. and those are owned by the 1%, so taking away some of their control, Iran will actually do Democracy of the world a favor.

[–] doingthestuff@lemy.lol 18 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

As someone who dies not support Iran, I see nothing wrong with this headline.

[–] knotRyder@lemmy.ca 2 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

The more headlines I'm seeing about Iran the more I'm starting to support them I don't support any regime though

[–] orgrinrt@lemmy.world 4 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

Good to keep in mind it is still an oppressive theocracy with public killings and their own flavor of violent regime thugs, working above laws, just like Russia has their militia and US has their ICE etc.

But, in comparison to this current flavor of the US, I too find myself preferring Iran here, and not only because they are the victim here, which is just bonkers in any objective sense. The world is just nuts.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 28 points 23 hours ago

I did not have Iran saving is from Slopnet on my bingo card this year but here we are.

[–] oopsgodisdeadmybad@lemmy.zip 13 points 20 hours ago

Hey do that and come here and Bob ours next, and if you're still feeling frisky, bomb the pop up ICE headquarters next.

[–] Lanske@lemmy.world 34 points 1 day ago

Is there a gofundme for this?

[–] silverneedle@lemmy.ca 36 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

You gotta give it to Iran for being completely unbested when it comes to identifying pressure points (markedly ahead of the largest economy in the world.)

[–] shawn1122@sh.itjust.works 6 points 20 hours ago

Large but young. A civilization as old as Iran's will know a thing or two about real politik and how to utilize leverage. Iran could easily come out of this a regional power as it has been throughout history. China has also risen much closer to its historical global standing and India is accelerating in that direction also. We are watching an era of Western hegemony fade away and it is fascinating to see. Doubt it will be as bad as the fall of the Romans and 1000 years of religious dogma and anti-intellectualism but this is a high risk period for sure.

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 20 points 1 day ago (3 children)

My theory is that there is a strong potential that Iran is going to come out of this bullshit war as a regional power that can punch way above their weight class.

[–] TrollTrollrolllol@lemmy.world 20 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I think the actual goal is to create a fierce enemy hellbent on destruction of the US so there is always an enemy to fight. That's why they are bombing the schools and research centers, they want to make the Iranian people hate us completely so they can always say "You have to elect us, they want to destroy us and the other party is weak"

We have always been at war with Eastasia.

They will finally get around to building their nukes too, after this. And Israel wont be so eager to bomb them all the time.

Dibs on whatever RAM survives the bombing.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 3 points 18 hours ago

Its dubai-- they'll have slaves out there picking up the ram before the fires are even put out. Although to be fair, they have been slowly getting better. They only have about 1.4% of the population enslaved at this point.

Have I got the tool for you

A screenshot of the Windows XP Disk Defragmenter

I miss defragging. Felt good, like tidying up.

[–] errer@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Iran has been preparing for a war for the past 25 years. Pretty sure they have a couple of cards left.

[–] testaccount372920@piefed.zip 89 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh no! Anyways...

I'm really saddened though by the amount of needless destruction of resources and life that this war causes.

[–] discocactus@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago

That's the worst part. Huge waste right when we need to be lowering our footprint. The only positive will be damage to extractive international capitalism based on fossil fuels, and potentially the pressure to make economies more local and less fossil fuel dependent.

[–] BagOfHeavyStones@piefed.social 56 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Chaotic one way data compression.

AFAIK Stargate is Sam Altman, not Elon. You're probably confusing with Starlink and Starship.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 2 points 16 hours ago

I upvoted it anyway, because I gatta Nazi's even when the story isn't show Nazi's.

I'm sure you do as well, but I also do, additionally.

[–] backalleycoyote@lemmy.today 39 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Starlink is Elon, Starship is Mickey Thomas, Stargate is Ra.
