I still don't understand this. But I'm not upset about that fact.

[–] psud@aussie.zone 6 points 3 hours ago

The hydraulic analogy is better (accuracy-wise)

[–] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 5 points 6 hours ago

Hey, how did you know?

[–] dan69@lemmy.world 10 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Damn I’d gotten a A+ or F+ if I was Electrical Engineering courses. Sex not only sells but also educates at a decent amount of topics.

[–] sulgoth@lemmy.ca 11 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I learned trig from a pornstar sitting on a stool with nothing but flash cards and socks on. Yes her clothes were flash cards yes it was a game, yes I was horny enough to ace my trig exams. No I don’t remember the name of the game, I’m sorry.

[–] cheesorist@lemmy.world 1 points 35 minutes ago

try to remember the sauce for your trig comrades

Dear artists stop creating things that make me want to furiously masturbate

Is this a gas leak year meme? ew

[–] neidu3@sh.itjust.works 19 points 10 hours ago

I'm sure a lot of semiconductors can be explained via "Help, step bro, I am stuck!"

[–] CIA_chatbot@lemmy.world 43 points 12 hours ago

Help me step-volt, I’m stuck!

[–] saltnotsugar@lemmy.world 38 points 12 hours ago

What are you doing volt-san!?

[–] GreenBeanMachine@lemmy.world 10 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Instructions unclear. Currently waiting in ER with a lightbulb up my ass and it's not lighting up!

[–] W98BSoD@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 57 minutes ago

Uncle Fester!!!

[–] vivalapivo@lemmy.today 23 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Now I want to see them explaining the fractional hall effect

[–] Quibblekrust@thelemmy.club 5 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago) (1 children)

SpoilerI have no idea how much of this information is slop. I think it's funny that ChatGPT made a decent attempt at this.

You can downvote if you want, meatbags, but I think it's funny.

Also, it wouldn't let me make them scantily clad.

[–] vivalapivo@lemmy.today 1 points 47 minutes ago

I mean it's not the explanation - I would've expected girls to resemble Laughlin's wavefunction - but still it's cool! It got the Wikipedia page right

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 4 points 8 hours ago

Ph , ampere waifu, let minute me be your voltage simp!

Oi! How did you manage to steal this fine artwork from Michael Faraday's secret lab books? They're kept under lock and key at the Royal ~~Society~~ Institution!!

Edit: correction.

[–] wolframhydroxide@sh.itjust.works 9 points 11 hours ago

*Royal Institution

Faraday's lab was at the RI.

[–] you_are_dust@lemmy.world 7 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I still don't understand, but now I'm a lot more interested in learning.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 10 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

It helps to think of it in terms of water flow. Resistance is the size of the pipe, volts is the water pressure, and amps is the flow rate.

Although resistance is an inverse relationship to pipe size (the higer the resistance, the smaller the pipe).

This image is replacing the water analogy with anime women.

[–] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago

Your way made way more sense

[–] BlindPenguin@lemmy.world 11 points 12 hours ago

After all this time, i finally understand

[–] krisevol@lemmy.zip 3 points 9 hours ago

"It's not the volts that kill you, it's the amps." Has got to be my most hated slogan

[–] RustyNova@lemmy.world 9 points 12 hours ago

That is more confusing for me.

I'll stick to the river analogy

[–] NONE_dc@lemmy.world 5 points 11 hours ago

Oh, now I (unironically) get it...

[–] WalrusDragonOnABike@reddthat.com 29 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago) (3 children)

Volts give the push. Amps are the actual flow (charge per second). Ohms try to prevent the amps from flowing (technically restricting the charges from flowing).

[–] pmk@piefed.ca 5 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Oh... She's pushing her. It makes more sense now.

[–] Carnelian@lemmy.world 8 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

The explanation makes a lot more sense if you already understand what is being explained

[–] Lehmuusa@nord.pub 4 points 11 hours ago

...if you already have some understanding of what is being explained. This did clarify it a bit more to me!

[–] pmk@piefed.ca 3 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Oh I understand Ohm's law, I just throught the picture was yellow fisting green while the resistor (2.1 kΩ?) held her in place.

[–] WalrusDragonOnABike@reddthat.com 3 points 10 hours ago

Don't you fist people when you try to get them moving?

[–] StillAlive@piefed.world 4 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Ohms try to prevent the amps from flowing

Why is Ohms such a bitch? Let her flow.

[–] captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works 10 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

Cause Amps can be a serious bitch when she really gets going, you've got to keep her in check.

[–] psud@aussie.zone 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

She gets too hot, melts stuff, starts fires

College girlfriend flashbacks.

[–] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

So should I just tie a rope to my wife? For when she really gets going?

Was that the plot of Black Snake Moan?

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 5 points 12 hours ago

I thought Ohm was tightening the waist, like a corset, so Amp could get through. But, maybe I was distracted.
