Yes. There are a ton of good WRs in this draft, and if Poles got insane deals, he'd have to take them. Insane would be like the Ricky Williams deal, The RG3 deal, or the Trey Lance deal.
Chicago Bears
Or frankly, the deal Poles made last year.
The idea that people want to fire this GM is beyond unbelievable.
If we’re 1 or 2 overall, there’s zero chance we take a WR over a QB. Unless Fields throws for 300 a game and wins out or they want to trade for Kyler, we’re taking a QB
Fireable offense if he did…been riding with Poles but that would probably push me over the edge into the “he’s gotta go” crowd
Remember when the world was going to end if we didn’t draft JSN?
Just looking at how things currently are, We’re likely taking Williams at 1. If the Giants have 2, they’re likely taking Maye or whatever QB they prefer. The Cards will either take MHJ or the best O-line available. The Pats are taking a QB. So if we’re at 5, we take either MHJ or best O-line available, whatever the Cards didn’t take. If we want to guarantee MHJ, we gotta start losing.
If he wants to get MHJ (which I think is great) I would absolutely trade back with the Giants or the Pats and get a mountain of additional draft capital.
What’s his RAS score?
I get that speculating is fun, but if we can wait until the end of the year, at least the speculation will be based on the realities of team needs, the actual draft order, and a full season of information from around the NFL. Whatever makes y’all happy, but to me, speculating right now is such a colossal waste of time 😂
Let's say this is how the season ends...I don't see New York or Arizona drafting a QB. New England probably won't move up with where they're at. Could we potentially fleece the Packers for them to ensure a top QB pick?
The Bears have a legitimate shot at being #3 with their own pick and can take him there.
Depends on his RAS
I really like MHJ and if we happen to have 3rd overall, I would love to draft him.
But, it would be absolutely idiotic to pass up on Caleb or Maye if we have #1 or #2. If you don’t like Caleb, fine go Maye.
It’s like people have this weird mental block of “well we haven’t had any luck with QBs lately, so let’s grab a sure thing” and neglect that just because we haven’t successfully drafted and developed a QB doesn’t mean we should stop trying.
Field is what he is, he might be good down the road, maybe he won’t. But if we have an opportunity to draft a top QB prospect, we need to pull the trigger.
To pass up on one of these two and go with MHJ is insane. There are other really great receivers in this draft. I would be ecstatic to have Williams/Maye and Naber/Egbuka from this draft.
I actually like Naber quite a bit. Add in that we already have a WR1 in Moore, and I just don’t see MHJ as a “must-have”.
God I hope not he's a generational talent. Only can't miss in this draft. Hope mhjr. Joe alt.
I think there is a very good chance MHJ is there at #5. Depends if the Giants take a QB after just paying Jones. But there are two OL that are very highly rated and I think one or both my go before MHJ. Arizona could go OL or trade back. Pats take a QB for sure.
How can every projected draft slot be well lower than the actual spot?
The Cardinals want to get away from Kyler's contract and do (another) full rebuild. He has his faults but he is a known quantity that has already proven more successful than any Bears qb past or present. I would be supportive of trading 1.01 for Kyler, '24 first and second, and '25 first. That is the price of a team giving up 1.01 in this draft PLUS taking on Murray's contract (think of the Osweiler + 2nd trade just to get his salary off the books).
Trade 1.01 in order to draft MHJ. You can't miss Megatron 2.0 who should be the actual 1.01 pick.
Draft whoever the scouts have the highest grade at LT or DT with the newly acquired Cardinals pick.
You have now locked down three glaring holes with two quality blue chip picks plus a true starting caliber QB and still have plenty of cap space to spend prior to the draft. Additionally, you have two first round picks in 2025 with the AZ pick being likely very high. Poles can either keep that pick or keep flipping for multiple firsts which is the Madden dynasty cheat code.
You have blog boys like Jahns pushing the narrative, that's part of the problem...same dude pushing the keep Flus narrative.
NY will need a QB. Cards, NE, and GB will win more games than the Bears.
Cards won’t pick in the top 5 imo
Mhj adds nothing to a team with dj Moore and terrible qb play and terrible ol and terrible dl.
Not only do players have value but positions also have value too. The QB is the most important position so even if MHJ is a better player Maye/CW will go higher.
Poles can’t announce who he’ll draft because if he says MHJ at 1 then the Giants don’t need to trade up a pick for their QB since he’ll be there at 2. Poles staying silence means the Giants might give up a 2nd for the first overall pick just to ensure no one else gets the pick.
The giants, patriots, and maybe cardinals all should look to draft qb. The bears trade down to 3. Order goes Williams, Maye, MHJ.
There is literally no one outside this sub who wouldn’t at the bare minimum trade down to #2 if they had the #1 pick and mhj
I absolutely expect Poles to make a decision I don’t agree with. I haven’t loved the majority of his decisions so I don’t expect that to change.
I think that Poles is always going to attempt to shop his picks as he values draft picks. My guess is he'd be happy with Keon Coleman (or whoever is WR2) and a 2025 1st over just MHJ.
Img this sub is getting unbearable. We are taking a qb at 1 or 2 and doing so is not only the correct decision, but the ONLY decision.
If we don’t like Caleb or Maye with the #1 the reality is we would be trading out with the highest bidder that still gives us a spot to get another player that poles thinks is his guy, whether that’s MHJ, Bowers, Olu, or maybe even Nabers. As much as I love MHJ and what he brings as a complete elite prospect the reality is that no team has or likely will ever use the #1 pick on a WR.
Positional value is one of the most important aspects of the draft, which is why it is so rare to see elite edge and OTs go past the first round and never qbs. No matter how badly the media over-examines the Williams pick the reality is that NFL scouts have came out saying they love the guy and some team will be willing to mortgage their entire future to get him. We will not give up the opportunity to get that much value for a receiver who, as elite as he is, resides in a very top heavy receiver draft with talent down the board through the first round.
This sub might lose their minds on draft night if we end up without Williams, Maye, or MHJ but that’s an extremely likely outcome if we end up with the #1 pick and don’t like either QB.
Correct me if I’m wrong , but isn’t manors putting up better stats?
I’m tired of the JF1 hate. Look at the man’s numbers; even in the losses. There’s so much he brings to the table. He had a breakout season last year. JF1 is OUR guy. Tyson Bagent is a great number 2 however JF1 can impact the game much better. All he needs is some fine tuning; or coaches that will scheme to his strengths. We need to continue building around him. We only have one true #1 wideout. I’m tired of the Bears organization making dumb decisions (Urlacher; Greg Olsen; ROQUAN) to let JF1 go will again be another stupid decision. I can almost guarantee if Matt Nagy had this team now we wouldn’t be sitting at 3-7; maybe .600. Hell of Lovie had this Bears team we’d be singing a different song. I’ll say this again: coaching. I’ll say it louder for the ones in the rear; COACHING. Can we fire this coaching staff and hire better coaches. It’s not the players but it’s the COACHING of the players. How the hell you were Green Bay’s assistant coach for umpteen years but you can’t scheme an offense built around the strengths of your players? This guy is a fkin joke; flus is a got damn joke! Ok my rant is over.
Poles has spent two years setting up to draft a quarterback.
He would. And it would be to draft Williams. If he prefers Maye, then he’ll trade down one spot for a few extra firsts.
We need a QB…
