At what point does the ambiguity of whether Fields is good or not become the answer?

I think Eberflus is awful and I think he should be fired. I like Poles and would like to keep him cause I believe in him.

But if we have a team President that has a vision that wants to bring in his own guys that can execute it? Hell yes, let’s do it. Get rid of them both

This has been posted numerous times the past couple of years and each time the result is the same.

My guess is, of the remaining 7 games, he has 2 good to great games, 2 absolute stinkers, and 3 games where he looks good for a couple of quarters but has some bad turnovers and/or sacks that ruin what could’ve been a pretty decent game

I don’t agree that kicking the can down the road is the best option. So what, we build up our team to a respectable place and then draft a QB in the 15-25 range in a couple of years?

Why not take the chance now when we have a surefire top 5 pick in a draft that has really great QB prospects and then build up the less important positions in the following years?

It just seems backwards to me. Like I get wanting to set up a good environment fora rookie QB and ideally we would already have that this year, but we don’t.

Could Fields turn it around? He could. Is it likely? No.

Should Poles and company get blame for passing on Stroud, knowing what we know now? Absolutely not. At the time of the decision (ignoring hindsight), it was a pretty good move that was applauded by most.

To include hindsight and ask “Why didn’t they draft Stroud instead?” needs to be coupled with the hindsight of what he does with all of the pieces he received from trading down. What if we draft Maye and he turns out better than Stroud? What if we add in a starting DT or some other starting piece with Carolina’s second next year? Then we’re looking at: Stroud vs. Moore, Maye, Wright, Stevenson, Scott, starter.

I really like MHJ and if we happen to have 3rd overall, I would love to draft him.

But, it would be absolutely idiotic to pass up on Caleb or Maye if we have #1 or #2. If you don’t like Caleb, fine go Maye.

It’s like people have this weird mental block of “well we haven’t had any luck with QBs lately, so let’s grab a sure thing” and neglect that just because we haven’t successfully drafted and developed a QB doesn’t mean we should stop trying.

Field is what he is, he might be good down the road, maybe he won’t. But if we have an opportunity to draft a top QB prospect, we need to pull the trigger.

To pass up on one of these two and go with MHJ is insane. There are other really great receivers in this draft. I would be ecstatic to have Williams/Maye and Naber/Egbuka from this draft.

I actually like Naber quite a bit. Add in that we already have a WR1 in Moore, and I just don’t see MHJ as a “must-have”.

I’ve been wanting to see Kramer in a regular season game. Chicago kid and it’s his natural position. I hope he gets the nod and does well.

I think many people here are suffering from this flawed view that because in their mind Fields and Williams play similarly, that Williams will turn out the same as Fields.

And that may be the case, but it isn’t a certain thing. It’s a false premise that are making people shy away from Williams despite his unreal talent.

Poles would, and should, get absolutely roasted if he did that.
