Someone else would have bought these plums and treated them right.

This is why I like living close to a grocery store. I make lots of small trips instead of a big one.
Ew, leaving the house multiple times a week?
This is the way. I just buy what I need every day. Barely ever waste something
That's what my parents did growing up. They didn't have a refrigerator and when they got one, it was super small.
when i rode transit every day to work, that's exactly what i used to do. i'd just stop on the way home, then pick up the next bus going my way.
I shop once a week, and get everything I need for the week. One trip, twenty minutes in and out. No processed packaged foods, mostly fresh and frozen vegetables, fruit, and organic chicken (no antibiotics). Zero food waste, because even fresh vegetables will survive a week in the fridge. On the last day before shopping day, my fridge is virtually empty.
I don't like shopping, so I made it as efficient as I could.

what movie is this?
People have said the title, but fun fact those are real skeletons not prop replicas

Why does this look like Leslie Nielsen doing an impression of the main guy from The A-Team, while cosplaying as Ric Flair?
Don't think I have ever really had this problem. I just eat the stuff I buy because it would be a waste of money not to.
Also best before dates are just a suggestion.
I love how my local grocery stores sell steaks at a deep discount when they're a day or two from expiring. Like, 75% off for aged beef? OK, if you insist.
I miss when heavy discounts like that were common. Much harder to find now. They usually manage to sell it off at much lower discounts instead.
I found a 5 pound slab of skirt steak for about $6 a couple of weeks ago. I thought I was hallucinating.
I’ll eat leftovers a week later and people act like I’m eating a baby. Sniff test motherfuckers, heard of it? People waste so much food it infuriates me.
People have different sensitivity to smells; I wouldn't trust my nose to detect when something starts to spoil, and when it completely went awry I am able to see it anyway.
I feel like the fridge thinks people can’t change
Its your fault for getting those sloppy plums.
I thought it was the compressor making that sound when I put that food in, but it's just the fridge either laughing or sighing.
Reminds me of Mitch Hedberg..."I used to be a real piece of shit. I still am, but I used to be too." /s
yup. here, too.
first thing in my head reading the post title was '...still am, but i used to be, too'
The raspberries and avocados play roulette tho'!
Fuck avocados and their 15-minute ripeness window.
You putting it all on red, or black?
Yes.
I bought these plums for you, past me! The fuck?
But are there any leftovers of sloppy steaks?
gotta get them REAL sloppy!
They can't stop you from ordering a steak and a glass of water!
Me every other week throwing out the food I thought better me would make. No. You ate the easy food like always, numbskull.
I started a compost and freeze all my meat till use. Goodbye, guilt! Those plums are bettering my soil now! I'm stealing south america's water and nutrients!
- I have eaten
- the plums
- that were in
- the icebox
- and which
- you were probably
- saving
- for breakfast
- Forgive me
- they were delicious
- so sweet
- and so cold
(This Is Just To Say, William Carlos Williams)
I still am, but I used to be as well.
I helped my parents clean out the refrigerator a couple years ago. I found the usual expired jams and jellies and other pickled things that were about 2 to 3 years overdue. But when I went into the freezer the oldest date I found was something that was hovering on 20 years past due. It's amazing how people neglect their icebox.
Sorry, I was in the mood for beans
That's why we need to normalize food sharing and foster the community
