Everyone is gonna clown you for even suggesting we don’t use the #1 pick on a QB, but in the event we do decide to keep fields I’d say likely candidates to trade up for a QB are NE, NYG, ATL, TB, and LAR. Maybe ARI, TEN and WAS but they probably ride out next season with their current QBs

Green Bay for 10 1st round picks and 14 2nds oh and Watson

The Chicago Bears should swap picks with the Bears for a 2025 1st round pick.

I don’t think we trade 1 if we get it but just for discussion I’d say Atlanta could be primed to make a panthers type move. They actually have a pretty good roster tho but QB situation is awful. Could get a similar return as last year. Maybe instead of a player we just get another 1. Maybe same with Tampa.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if we just trade back a pick or 2 but would have no idea what the comp would be for that.

Assuming the Bears are keeping Fields, any team outside the top 2 that needs a QB. The Patriots would be my hope at this point. They may finish with #3. Bears trade back to them, still take MHJ & another blue chipper with their pick.

Depending on how the rest of the year goes, could see Vegas or ATL looking to do something different at QB too

You might be able to swindle AZ for both of their first rounders this year if we can make them think that whoever we’re trading to is going to take the QB they want

[–] Brodie1567@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s way too soon to know. We need a definite answer on Fields, we may need that pick ourselves.

[–] y_wont_my_line_block@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So if you're trading 1, then you're keeping Fields. If you want MHJ you have to stay at 1. Because Arizona would be stupid not to draft him. And if I'm the Bears trying to make Justin Fields work, then we need more weapons.

If you are okay with losing out on MHJ, I like Atlanta where they might be on the fence about Kyle Pitts and you could get multiple picks plus a player. Kyle Pitts isn't D.J. Moore but he's certainly a plus player who would be a weapon in this offense.

Ideally Arizona or New England

On the topic of draft compensation, I'm wondering if teams are going to look at the Panthers and the success of the mega-haul trades for QB prospects at the top of the draft and start to re-evaluate the wisdom in that.

It's entirely possible the mega-haul one expects for #1 is considerably watered down.

Either way, I'm of the mind that MHJ at #1 is fine. If we're going QB at 1, so be it. But it'll really suck to lose out on Harrison.

[–] adamempathy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

New England at 3. We can still get MHJ, get NE's 1 and 2 next year and give me Judon to sweeten the deal

[–] CapitalExact@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

And then take the best OL prospect on the board. Drafting a qb is all luck anyways. The experts don’t know either. Don’t even risk it. Take the biggest freaks and move on.

[–] pleasedontbingme@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Gonna be really unpopular but if Arizona comes before where our first pick would be after a trade down I’m not trading down and I’m just taking MHJ and counting my winnings.

[–] The_TexasRattlesnake@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Shit if Arizona wants 1 for a QB give us Kyler and number 2. Take MHJ then Olu or Alt

[–] MeaningConstant27@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The Falcons and Jets should be trying hardest. Patriots might be moving away from Belichick so you don’t want to bring in a new QB with an outgoing coach like we keep doing. Vegas should too but if they’re not talking Crosby or Adams you should go to hell.

[–] lkn240@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If we have the #1 pick and don't take a QB Poles has a good chance of never getting another GM job again.

There are zero GMs in the NFL that would not take a QB in our situation with the #1 or #2.

[–] TidyJoe34@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Arizona. Then draft whichever QB is left. Pull a Texans and use draft capital to move up to 3 to get MHJ

[–] IntelligentFilth@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I don’t know about you all, but I’m all done trading up for UNC quarterbacks!! 🤨There are others like Bo Nix and Penix Jr who we can get at #4.

[–] Dazed_and_Confused44@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The only way I think it makes sense to trade the pick is if it's with NE or Arizona. Pick up some extra picks and take whichever of Maye or Williams doesn't get taken.

Obviously that's not realistic. Also it would depend on how close Poles thinks Williams and Maye are

[–] MainDonDada@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Nobody. Take Marvin Harrison Jr. and don’t look back.

[–] iparty_alot182@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

MHJ and the best pass rusher… that’s how this draft should go… Moore, Harrison Kmet and Scott great threats. Sweat, Dexter and best DE in draft, that makes our line decent and will in terms make linebackers and secondary’s job easier.

Some options that are intriguing to me:

Steelers: TJ Watt, 2024 1st, 2024 2nd, 2025 1st, 2025 2nd

Raiders: same as above but with Crosby

Assuming this order stays exactly the same, trade with New England for 2024 1,2 2025 2,3, take MHJ, then trade back our 4
