I brought this up a couple of days ago stating that we don’t know how much power Kevin Warren has and was laughed at. I thought he only had control over the management (stadium, revenue being brought in, etc) side of the bears, but maybe not. Thoughts?

If the old adage is true and you need at least 3 years to evaluate a draft, how can anyone say whether or not Poles has been successful?

Sure, he’s made some clear mistakes, namely Chase Claypool, but anyone that comes in here will make a bad move at some point.

Personally, I think Poles has the right approach to building a team and should be given time. The man had nothing to work with when he took over and spent the last 2 years trying to rebuild his draft capital. It would honestly be reason scummy to can him right as he restocked the picks.

Dude used a pure speculation article to back up his own pure speculation lmaooo

[–] Bidoof2017@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Id rip off the bandaid and let Warren do his thing

[–] NormanMitis@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Firing Poles this early in his tenure with the promise he's shown so far with his overall decision making would be a huge mistake imo.

[–] Fifeslife@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Warren needs to sit down with Poles after season and say this. “Fire Eberflous and clean coaching staff… you have 2 more seasons to get to .500 or you are gone”

[–] Ornery-Dragonfruit96@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

...make it one.

[–] happyfave@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If they go this route, please for the fucking love of God hire a GM first. and let the GM hire the head coach.

[–] beegeepee@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Poles shouldn't be fucking safe he hasn't proven he should be.

These things are predictable and consistently happened to the bears because of the way they hire people. And almost every other franchise they fire everybody all at once start from the top work your way down. But for some reason the bears like to hire new GM'S after the the coach is pretty much picked.

Or in this case they hire a rookie GM who was given information/ encouraged by the owners and that panel of specialist they set up to hire flus.

Then they hire a president of operations who had no say in hiring these two guys, yet now reportedly wants to be more involved in football operations

This is such a cluster of an organization it's infuriating.

If the bears let go of fields and Kevin Warren wants to be more involved with the football operations then fire everybody and hire people in the correct order.

It would be absolutely insane if we draft a quarterback this year and keep the coach and the gm.

I feel like this thread is forgetting that we are fans…but for them it’s an every day job. If Warren doesn’t like working with Flus or Poles then he has the right to make this move…it’s on the McCaskeys for this ass backwards hiring process they had. If you just don’t like how things are tracking and you feel like you wouldn’t have hired them or they aren’t building the team to your liking then by all means make the change.

Kevin Warren is here to stay and Poles/Flus can very easily be replaced. We would look back and grade out Flus an F- and Poles would get a C+.

Warren is setting it up for a Tom gamble / harbaugh situation

[–] AmbitiousChair1073@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Only problem is I don’t believe Harbaugh and Warren are on good terms over the big 10 playing during Covid

[–] Goozy89@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I honestly don’t have a single issue with Ryan Poles

[–] CherryCokeSlurpee@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If he keeps Flus then Poles is just as bad as him. It will be a glaring sign that he's cool with continuing to lose. Anyone who's watched the Bears know Flus is horrible. 6-22 record speaks for itself. I'm sure some of us here could pull off a better record than that. Bears have hired vanilla coaches since Ditka and outside of Lovie, they've all been fucking horrible. It's like playing not to lose before the game even starts. They keep the hires safe and boring, then we watch opposing coaches school us and make our team look like a joke

[–] Sukkit74@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Poles should not be safe, there is more to being a GM than finding players. There is no sense of team, no unity, the way he runs things, even the best player on this team can be cut tomorrow.

Players don’t feel like they’re part of something, they feel like meaningless stats and numbers.

Plus the way he’s tied himself to the worst coach in Bears history is grounds enough for termination.

[–] Standard_Employee751@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Poles is 6-22 just like Flus and this sub wants to pretend like Flus is the only one to blame

[–] Puzzleheaded-Ear9487@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It makes zero sense to get rid of Poles.

I really want someone to explain it to me based on what he’s done to date.

This roster is leaps and bounds better than last year. Yes, the wins haven’t come but he’s built a decent roster from nothing with healthy cap space and a lot of draft capital.

Sorry, but anyone coming into this year expecting playoff run was incredibly delirious. Nobody, outside of Chicago had that expectation.

I think we’re going to see this roster be even better next year, to start over makes no sense.

[–] tmet1027@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Poles is a bad GM anyway. I’m fine with this

[–] Ok-Tune-8859@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Everything is what it is on their 3 Rebuild and development program. Would be nice of they were winning along the way..the wins will come. And winning will be sustainable and well worth the pain.

[–] BPCoop19@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Oh great, another revolving door "I want my guys" mess.

[–] Bergamot29@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Not gonna lie. I still haven't gotten over the Claypool trade.

[–] twitchrdrm@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I know it's all speculation but this got me thinking who are KW's NFL people?

Is he linked to any specific coaches/coaching trees/NFL people?

[–] Rshackleford22@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Good. Poles is meh definitely replaceable. Flus absolutely must go.

[–] frank1934@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s amazing that everyone is positive that the only reason we are bad is that the coaching sucks, and in no way is because we have bad players

[–] samurai5625@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This right here is why if I were George McCaskey, I would have fired Pace/Nagy and told Phillips to retire after the 2020 season. I would have hired a new President first and let him hire the GM and who would then hire the head coach. Of course the Bears did it backwards where they brought in a new GM/coach and hired the President after.

[–] Leather_Investment61@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Rest assured guys that wherever they do, it’ll be the wrong move.

[–] FishermanBig4566@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Football insiders already have heard that FIELDS is back! Which means Poles is back.

Fans really are dumb. Leadership is about leading. Not firing!

If I am Warren....I meet with Poles and talk. Then both meet with Eberflus and say "don't coach not to lose, coach to win.....don't coach scared"

That would be a great message from Warren.

Poles knows what he is doing and he will only get better.

Everflus is early 50's and fans don't understand that you still learn and get better in your 50's.

We know he can lead men. We know he is respected and knows the game. We know he made errors and so has getsy, but they all do on every team.

You bring them all back if they get to 6 wins.

[–] Long-Distance-7752@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Lmao what a disaster franchise
