I don’t get my poles gets so much hate. Yes, he chose Flus. However, I think people forget that was from a list of three guys provided to him by polien. All I know is he knows talent. Braxton jones, Darnell Wriggt, brisker, Gordon, Dexter, Bagent and more. He’s also got sweat, Moore, Edward’s, and Edmund’s. Also got Carolina’s first round. Dude can get and has gotten a solid team. Now we we need a coach to mold it.

I think this is Poles’s PR team at work here. Trying to save his job before decision time end of season.

[–] FuckYourUpvotes666@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

A lot of the guys you just mentioned wouldn't even be starters on good teams.

They are "good" only in comparison to our practice squad players. You also fail mention any of Poles obvious misses, feels like this is a bad faith argument.

[–] ItsEaster@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think it’s still too early to evaluate his ability to evaluate talent. He’s had some solid hits and some big whiffs. This sub also drastically overrates a lot of players on the roster.

My bigger concern with Poles was choosing to put our young QB in the situation of dealing with the coaching staff for a second year. He pretty much sealed the deal on Fields being a bust in Chicago when Flus and Getsy came back for round two.

[–] No-Computer-2847@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Brisker and Gordon are bad.

You forgot Valus, and Claypool

[–] Standard_Employee751@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Roquan, Pickens, etc etc

There’s just too many to choose from

[–] Brodie1567@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Leave it to Bears fans to think of their average (at best) players are “great” finds.

[–] GOATnamedFields@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bro said Edmunds and Wright?

Edmunds has been complete garbage and one of the most overpaid players in the NFL. Wright has been thoroughly mediocre and we took him instead of one of the greatest defensive rookies of all time.

Might as well say Claypool or Cody Whitehair while we're at it.

[–] forgotmyoldname90210@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (4 children)

This is like the 3rd or 4th one of these since Monday. This 3 win team is just loaded with talent apparently.

And its absolutely mind-boggling at this point that Gordon is continually mentioned as a great player.

You're talking about getting a new coach, but do you know who hired Everfuck and his dogshit staff? Yeah, your boy..

jury is still out

i started writing out a whole thing but really it’s just that the jury is still out

[–] ParticularGlass1821@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

6 wins in two years. No he isn't.

[–] LegalComplaint@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Braxton is just a guy. Good value for a fifth rounder, but there’s no reason not to draft a blue chip LT next draft.

[–] Tlupa@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He’s a mid level LT, that is far from just a guy lol. I don’t agree that Poles has really increased the talent particularly well, but Jones is a solid LT and that is difficult to find, shockingly difficult in the 5th+ round.

[–] PeanutBear33@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

he was one of the worst pass blockers tackles in the league last year.

This year he's been injured and despite only playing 5 games has 7 penalties. 12th most among tackles. He ranks 42 in efficiency.

he's not mid. He's just a guy.

[–] Tlupa@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He was also a top 10 run blocker last year.

75.4 PFF grade that ranked 19th among players at the position. His 78.8 overall grade from Week 10 ranked ninth among left tackles. It’s almost like a rookie 5th rounder had some growing pains.

If we draft a LT in the top 5-10, I get it. But we’d have arguably the best swing tackle in the NFL, because Braxton is an average LT

He’s cleaned up penalties so far. He’s had 6 accepted penalties this season and 4 of them were week 1. He’s actually kind of flipped this year where his pass blocking has been good but run blocking has taken a hit.

As far as 3 win teams go (2 wins by the backup qb. 6 wins in 2 seasons) this team is stacked. I struggle to believe y’all are enjoying this storyline.

The guy who says "We are going to take the North and never give it back" has zero NFC North wins.

[–] Standard_Employee751@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

He said this and decided to tank.

That’s when I knew he was a bitch ass bum.

If you think dogshit Edmunds was a good signing then you need your fucking eyes checked. Sanborn routinely outplays Edmunds, especially at the MLB position. Edmunds makes 20+ million per year and Sanborn makes less than 1 million per year. Poles allows Sweat to only be played 60% percent of the snaps and Lucas to be in rather than Feeny. And you like this turd of a GM?!

[–] stwp86@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

For me it's that he does not hold his staff to the same standard that he holds his players. That is just bad leadership imo.

[–] jrutz@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

A broken clock is also right twice a day.

[–] tynskers@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He absolutely did not choose flus, which is why I think they should let him cook for a few more years after they fire eberflus. Preferably yesterday

[–] thesch@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Braxton jones, Darnell Wriggt, brisker, Gordon, Dexter, Bagent and more

Some of these names are just players you threw in there for padding to make it look better than it is lol. "Finding" Kyler Gordon in the second round is not some genius move.

Oh wow he managed to find a guy who looks like he'll be an alright backup QB. Is this really how low the bar is?

[–] SonOfNike85@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (11 children)

Am I the only one who thinks Brisker is just a guy?

What has he done besides getting injured?

He looks lost in coverage most of the time and miss reads plays.

I guess he is a good blitzer but is that what you want out of a safety?

[–] FuckYourUpvotes666@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Im convinced Brisker is loved by fans that don't watch the games. He misses tackles and is late to the play constantly.

[–] AMollenhauer@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Brisker is awful.

[–] newaccounthomie@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I literally think they should just convert him to MLB. If he can handle the green light on the helmet and can gain a few pounds, I really think he has all the tools necessary to play the position.

But I’m just an armchair GM.

[–] Standard_Employee751@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He’s too soft for MLB

[–] redditappsucksbigly@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He's 6'1 200 and constantly hurt at safety. Dude would need to add 40 lbs to not get sent in IR immediately at MLb lolollll

[–] Destinyrockx889@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Agreed he is just a normal player almost a backup

[–] PhraseSeveral5935@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He was great his rookie season. I remember watching him singlehandedly stop a Mahomes' led Chiefs offensive drive. Made the play on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd down. This year, ever since watching him flap his wings against Washington while they were eviscerating us, he's all talk. Put up or shut up. Can't be running your mouth from the bottom of the division, damn near bottom of the league.

If you think trading for Sweat and paying him $100M is one for the win column I don’t know what to tell you.

[–] _CHIBEARSMOD_@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We all watched the gosh darn PANTHERS convert 1st and 30 on us. This is after our coach laughed about having "Something up his sleeve."

[–] PeanutBear33@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Traded #32 for claypool

whiffed on pickens twice for an okay safety and a mid cb

reached on vjj in the 3rd

every other wr he's tried to add besides DJ

Lucas Patrick

Paid sweat top 5 money for top 20-25 edge play

still have a terrible d-line with all of his players

Davis can't get on the field, braxton is still starting, no one has a clue what wright is going to be. He has good plays he has embarrassing plays as a rookie is going to.

we have a bottom 5 talent roster despite the #1 overall pick and 100 million in cap. Where is this talent evaluation? his entire "tear down" was make a bad trade on mack...and he's done. Yet we're acting like it was some giant task that he couldn't possibly improve on with 2 off seasons. And yes, he choose the disaster of Eberflus.

where is this solid team as we're as we're sitting with the #4 overall pick next year? That's ryan poles. You guys really show you don't know any roster besides the bears and maybe the super bowl contenders.

[–] Etown20@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He needs to figure out the QB situation or nothing else will matter. He had the chance to draft Stroud and he passed.

[–] reececanthear@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The state of this sub is so fucking low. We get 100 of these posts a week and another 100 of Caleb vs Maye vs Fields posts.

[–] JCarr110@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)
[–] _CHIBEARSMOD_@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He stinks on Dry Ice

[–] Cordo_Bowl@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yes, he chose Flus

'He's a great evaluator if you ignore the single biggest miss on his talent evaluation'

[–] soxfan10@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I really don't think that he chose Eberflus. The timing just doesn't add up. He was hired on 1/25 and then Eberflus was hired on 1/27. You really think that's enough time to properly evaluate a guy? To further that point, he's made some great trades, but he's also swung and missed on some bad ones too. I don't think he gets fired this off season, but it's close to do or die time

[–] Millzball258@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I know I may get downvoted to hell here but pace was a better evaluator. He brought in hicks who was an immediate difference maker. Poles did well with edwards but Edmunds has been overpaid in my opinion and don’t get me started on Lucas patrick…In terms of drafting pace has also been better. Poles may have hit in the first round with wright, but pace made his money in the later rounds. Mooney, kmet, Johnson all in the same draft is impressive with very limited picks in 2020 not to mention vildor and Trevis Gipson who for late round picks were solid. Not saying I miss pace at all but don’t not ready to crown poles a king after one off-season.

[–] mediumlong@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

…with very limited picks? You act as though some thief came and stole all of Pace’s picks away.

[–] Significant_Cycle_76@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Every team has guys like Braxton, brisker, Gordon, Dexter, and bagent (sorry that’s a LOL) there’s nothing special about that group

[–] Gumorak@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He’s definitely not a great WR evaluator.

[–] Gryffindorq@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

watching this Baltimore vs San Diego game and whoever has the ball, the best defensive player on the field is a former Bear is hard to stomach tbh

[–] inorite234@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If Poles willingly allowed his coaching hire to be selected by someone else (George McCaskey) then he deserves all the hate that comes his way.

Shit man! It's my job to lead others and if someone came in saying that my job depended on the performance of other people but I wasn't allowed to choose my trainers or to choose the culture I wanted to institute....I'd resign.

My job depends on my ability to lead and that ability requires that I be the one making decisions.....not some rich kid who looks at all of this the way a fan does.
