My roommate injects his quads and seems to prefer it over the glute so I'm gonna assume it's personal preference. Definitely try both to be sure

[–] LaughingLion@hexbear.net 14 points 2 years ago

just far up the quads and always from the side or angle

Yeesh, that's kinda rough. At least now you know and won't do it again. At least hopefully.

IM injections are just terrifying to me for this and other reasons. I tried to do them for 3 months, but I ultimately decided to move on to subcutaneous. Less pain for me and less terrifying. As a note, trying to get 20mg/mL Estradiol into a syringe with a 25g needle takes an egregious amount of time.

T is also stupid thick, but certainly Subcutaneous is the way to go. After I tapped a nerve doing IM….. 🤢 so I ain’t ever going back

i hate needles and IM injections suck but you gotta do what you gotta do

i figured id throw out my experience as a cautionary tale so nobody around here makes the same mistake because if i had a job that required me to be on my feet all day and i did this in the morning it would have taken me out for that day for sure

I draw up with an 18g needle and swap to a 23g to inject, highly recommend that. Swapping the needle also makes it less painful because the needle tip gets a bit blunted going through the vial's stopper- just make sure you push the air out of the new needle tip before injecting (if you forget, it won't hurt as bad as if you did that in an intravenous injection, but it will be a bit unpleasant)

I know this is a common thing to do, but I don't have money to do this. Not only would I have to purchase 3 separate items to even be able to do this, but I would essentially lose my current setup which is a fixed needle safety syringe. I'll take the mild inconvenience for the time being.

The pain isn't a factor for me at all as well. My stomach got fucked when I had a tummy tuck about 6 years ago. I have no feeling from my belly button to about 5 or 6 inches below that.

Either way, it is good information to pass around.

EDIT: I hope that didn't come off as aggro. I apologize if it did.

Don't worry, you didn't come off as aggro at all. Lmk if I'm giving too much unsolicited advice, for that matter.

Fwiw idk your financial situation but this is really cheap. I bought 100 needles of each size and 200 syringes for like $20 like a year ago, split them all with my gf, and I'm only just starting to run out. Juggling the three pieces was a pain at first but I can basically do it in my sleep now

[–] Alch_Fox@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

It's something I would definitely want to do once the money comes up. I have had trouble at times piercing my skin in the past so it's something I should consider. Just finances are really really bad right now so it'll have to wait.

[–] macerated_baby_presidents@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

you can use a lower gauge needle to draw up and then swap to 25

[–] Alch_Fox@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I'm aware, but my setup doesn't have the ability to change needles.

rip. Idk why I said that I don't even do it myself, just 23g for everything. Can't be bothered to buy (or pay for) a second kind of needle

[–] Cromalin@hexbear.net 14 points 2 years ago

christ sorry to hear that. thank you for the advice though, hope everyone who needs it is getting it

I do subcutaneous in the stomach since I have a lot of fat, takes forever but it's worth it imo.
