It's the dunk tank.

This is where you come to post big-brained hot takes by chuds, libs, or even fellow leftists, and tear them to itty-bitty pieces with precision dunkstrikes.

Rule 1: All posts must include links to the subject matter, and no identifying information should be redacted.

Rule 2: If your source is a reactionary website, please use archive.is instead of linking directly.

Rule 3: No sectarianism.

Rule 4: TERF/SWERFs Not Welcome

Rule 5: No ableism of any kind (that includes stuff like libt*rd)

Rule 6: Do not post fellow hexbears.

Rule 7: Do not individually target other instances' admins or moderators.

In fact, my wife and I are the financial backstop for her parents.

  1. do nothing to stop your own financial downfall by voting for Reaganites for decades

  2. financial downfall happens

  3. blame communism

I will say, I'm glad I'm secure enough to not ask for help from my parents. Cause like, there's so much pain and suffering I would be willing to take before owing money to my family.

owe

I feel like parents shouldn’t consider aiding their child in terms of transactional debt

[–] Venus@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

And if they did consider it that way it should be ignored by the child. It is impossible for you to owe your parents shit, mfers literally created you. If they got a problem they can take it up with their selves

I can't imagine anything worse than asking my parents for anything. And its not cos of pride idgaf about that its cos i hate every atom that forms their being.

I'm sorry friendo. I just have that combo of pride and condescension, which would give way if all else fails. Hope you continue not needing to ask yours for anything.

The Hero's Journey of Kissing Your Dad on the Lips: how to get your parents to buy you bootstraps to pull yourself up by

I hate rich people.

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

My parents are decent people, and have offered to help me out with some money for a down payment. They offered $10k. I had to explain to them that $10k is more or less a rounding error on a 20% down payment on a $500k+ apartment and, while a kind gesture and obviously still quite a lot of money, wouldn't really help me to buy a place.

It's like they watched the Onion Talk about having your rich dad set you up with a job and thought "this but unironically"
