It's the dunk tank.

This is where you come to post big-brained hot takes by chuds, libs, or even fellow leftists, and tear them to itty-bitty pieces with precision dunkstrikes.

Rule 1: All posts must include links to the subject matter, and no identifying information should be redacted.

Rule 2: If your source is a reactionary website, please use archive.is instead of linking directly.

Rule 3: No sectarianism.

Rule 4: TERF/SWERFs Not Welcome

Rule 5: No ableism of any kind (that includes stuff like libt*rd)

Rule 6: Do not post fellow hexbears.

Rule 7: Do not individually target other instances' admins or moderators.

Rule 8: The subject of a post cannot be low hanging fruit, that is comments/posts made by a private person that have low amount of upvotes/likes/views. Comments/Posts made on other instances that are accessible from hexbear are an exception to this. Posts that do not meet this requirement can be posted to !shitreactionariessay@lemmygrad.ml

Rule 9: if you post ironic rage bait im going to make a personal visit to your house to make sure you never make this mistake again

Otherwise gee fucking idiots I guess you realy needed a whole research department to figure things out like

•Alt-Right supergroup activity remains near its all-time high. This activity has been high since the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago in August (Fig. 1).

•The forums with the greatest use of Violent/Aggressive discourse in November were in Health Misinformation, scoring higher than Incels/Femcels and the Extreme Right (Fig. 7).

•Reference to sex crimes was up 13% in December and was up 32% since August (Fig. 11).

:the-democrat: reading this : "Great, its all according to the plan. Carry on mrMcdoofus, keep us informed, this is very useful information, it will come in handy when we decide to do absolutely nothing for the next 2 years."

Kinda surprised by this tbh. I know antivax weirdos and such were not the most pleasant of people but worse than the nazis?

Research like this (word associations with groups of web posts) is bunk pseudoscience. You can draw any conclusion you want if you play around long enough with the parameters. And god knows what keywords they used to find "violent/aggressive discourse"

Holy shit, we're in the news! We've made it big

[–] ButtBidet@hexbear.net 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

After a quick glance, it looks like "the extreme left" is not anywhere near as violent as the right.

Because the "extreme left" Isn't even fucking extreme. At its heart it's about bringing people together to make the world a better place.

What is this? Some right-wing think tank BS?

Extremist = anything that isn't normal politics

Yeah, real solid metric to have there pal. It's not like that is completely subjective or anything, considering Nazi politics are considered normal for a lot of people.

This isnt doxxing, because it took me 5 minutes. He's got a 60% rating on rate-my-professor, so it looks like it'll take him a bit to respond to our emails. 😔

Whataboutism

As we go through this period, one of the concerns is an emerging, organized effort to delegitimate the election and the Biden administration using “whataboutism.” What about this, what about that?

Look I support this guy on the sole basis that he doesn't understand what whataboutism is

How do we have so much violent rhetoric without being connected to any actual violence

[–] invalidusernamelol@hexbear.net 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Because the sample size for "extreme left" is like 5000 posts/month and they probably tagged every Ukraine mega thread as violent. There's also the adventurism posts and

:stfu-terf:

Type posting that goes on which is a decent percentage of posts.

They didn't analyze the content of violent posts, just the language. All violence on hexbear is violence proposed as defense against state or reactionary violence where the alt right sites are calling for genocide.

[–] keepcarrot@hexbear.net 1 points 2 years ago (5 children)

My hope is that there is substantially more of "the extreme left" in the global south who aren't posting in English (or posting at all but just chatting to each other).

[–] Tankiedesantski@hexbear.net 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I hope not because the last thing global south leftists need is to get disappeared because the NSA picked up their posts.
