but so far the only very successful QB's in the Shanahan offense we've seen as of today are Tua, Matt Stafford, Matt Ryan, Aaron Rodgers, and Brock Purdy.

Detroit's defense isnt that great. Bears running game, especially with Fields back, should be able to grind out some long drives and control the clock and make it closer than people think.
Detroit's rushing defense is allowing the 6th fewest Yards per Attempt.
Neither team is likely to be able to run a bunch (and if either teams O-line is likely to crack the other team's D-line, it would be the Lions' rolling over the Bears') and then it will be Jared Goff and the Lions receivers at home in their cozy dome where they are awesome vs. Fields and the Bears' passing game.
I bet I know who wins that matchup.
It's not just about Fields, though. Both the "maybe Fields will ball out for the next seven games" AND the "look how improved our defense is!" people are going to have a bad time on Sunday. Possibly also the "our offensive line is one piece away from being solid" folks
Sunday is more than likely going to put a lump of coal in everyone's stocking.
I think it's fucking hilarious that Justin Fields is (probably) back this week and yet all anyone posts about is the draft and arguing about receiver vs. QB.
Seriously; where's the excitement?
Fields is going to end up like Henry Rowengartner after the broken arm. His newly-fixed thumb now provides him perfect spin and pinpoint accuracy on every throw.
think Carolina can also win 2-3 more games
What about Carolina makes you think they can win 2-3 more games?
The latter.
Now, a question for you: what do you think the chances are that Ryan Poles, Matt Eberflus and Justin Fields ever lead the Bears to an NFC Championship game, much less a Super Bowl, much less actually winning it?
I, personally, want the Bears to get to a point where they can go into a game against Philadelphia/San Francisco/Kansas City/Cincinnati and be even odds, or even a favorite in the game. I don't see our current GM/coach/QB combo ever getting us there. So what do we do? Just hold on to them and accept that our ceiling is maybe one day winning the NFC North and losing in the first or second round to a real contender?
I never need to see Pete Davidson on my TV again.
How does Drew Stanton and Ryan Lindley vs. Shaun Hill grab you?

I only watched this game because I bet on it.
How, on Earth, do you people think that a better GM than Ryan Poles is going to take this job if we fire him?
Kevin Warren performs several interviews on FO assistant GMs/Directors of Scouting, etc. that he knows around the league.
Warren offers a promotion and one of the only 32 GM jobs in the league to the candidate he thinks is best.
The candidate accepts.
and I get that an edge of that quality is unlikely to make it to free agency
Except that he literally was a couple of months away from making it to free agency. Clearly, Washington wasn't going to extend him.
Yes, but the offense still has to outscore their offenses to have a chance to win.
I don't care how much the defense has supposedly improved; they're not holding Detroit or Minnesota to 13 points in their fast-track domes.
The winner of these games is very likely to score 30+.
