manga chapter 1 and full game spoilersIsn’t literally half the bit with Aubrey is that the peak of the physical violence she inflicts is pushing Basil into the lake, she has a heel-realization, and that's where her arc starts to turn around or did I hallucinate that bit.

Here she just like runs the risk of giving Basil brain damage nonchalantly, and not only is this a fucked thing for Aubrey it fucks up Basil's character too IMO, because part of the realization you have is that Aubrey isn't as much of an asshole as she's coming across to be (don't get me wrong, she still is in the wrong and is lashing out destructively in a very unhealthy manner) and that a part of the situations we keep finding her in specifically with regards to Basil is that Basil has severe anxiety and active hallucinations. So while he is getting bullied by Aubrey, he pretty much shuts down immediately when he interacts with her, and each time it happens that we see it, Kel notices the extreme panic Basil is in and overcorrects, assuming much worse of Aubrey then intended, which causes her to re-up her bravado and attempt to embody the accusations leveled against her as a fuck you to Kel and everyone else in the town.

It's supposed to be messy and juvenile. It's a stupid feedback loop that none of them are equipped to solve while they continue to stew inside their own heads which is why none of it gets resolved until Sunny comes out of his room and Hero comes back from college. It's supposed to be an unserious dispute! It's kids who think they are adults because they've been traumatized being dumb! Part of the bit in this very fight in the game is that Aubrey freaks out when Sunny pulls a knife not just because she didn't expect Sunny to have that but she didn't expect weapons to be used at all in the fight, because she carries her nail bat around simply because it looks cool. I don't remember her actually using it! She has it over her shoulder in her fight sprites! LOOK AT IT

LOOK AT HOW SHE HOLDS IT WHEN SHE'S NOT FIGHTING

COMPARE IT TO HER DREAM WORLD BOSS SPRITE

CLEAR AND VISUALLY COMMUNICATED DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WHAT IS BEING USED AS A FIGHTING IMPLEMENT HERE. HAVE I FALLEN INTO THE FANON TRAP HERE? AM I MISSING SOMETHING??? IS THIS NOT LITERALLY A PART OF THE GAME STORY

is this the bit where the meaning of critical support is thought to be ‘necessary/vital support’ (i.e. critical hit, critical operation) and not ‘support with regards to specific ventures with assumed criticism holistically’

like, when I say ‘critical support to Russia in providing aid to Cuba in defiance of US sanctions’ I don’t mean ‘Russia needs vocal support for this action because it is necessary and vital’ I mean ‘Russia is doing something good with this specific thing, and while I am acknowledging that, I want to clear away any insinuation that I am also defending, agreeing with, or trafficking in apologia for, say, the reactionary treatment of the LGBTQ+ population within Russia.’

  • fellow anti-Zionist Jew
  • not perturbed by me being a communist, in fact, actively asks me my opinion on current issues to factor into her blindspots
  • apparently has a spouse who consistently has a morning ritual check each day to update her if Joe Biden is still alive (amazing bit)
  • actively cool about gender stuff
  • has, over the many years since I started going to her, taken a special interest and personal study of the psychology of ADHD in part to better work with me and another long-term patient of hers

Shoutout to my therapist for being one of the real ones, I’ve heard too many therapist stories to not acknowledge that I’ve actually struck gold

context: the debatejak-fan high school friend I’ve complained about before, I’m pressing him on his debate daddy’s claim that nuking the Gaza Strip and annihilating the entire population of it would not be an act of genocide

He tries to say it depends on the context, and I’m like, ‘elaborate’ interviewer

Here is the hypothetical scenario in which an Israeli nuke is launched into the Gaza Strip, killing everybody in it, where purportedly no one is guilty of genocide. I am going to try my best to quote this conversation as close to how it played out as I can.

Let’s say, a rogue IDF soldier sees one Hamas guy in the Gaza Strip, and he launches a nuke to deal with him.

That would still be genocide, dude, the rogue IDF soldier would have committed an act of genocide.

It wouldn’t, because–

What do you mean it wouldn’t?

Because he’s using the nuke without the special intent to kill everyone in the Gaza Strip, he’s using it to get the Hamas guy-

No, wait, when you’re launching a– if you unleash a WMD the results of the action is a responsibility you take on and can be assigned to your– unless a fucking breeze literally takes your nuke and puts it somewhere else, it’s– you assume responsibility for the consequences of your actions, especially if you can comprehend them, which I’m not even going to consider people not knowing what nukes do to be valid.

But it wouldn’t be genocide! He doesn’t have the special intent.

How the fuck did this rogue soldier get the nuclear codes anyways strangelove-wow

I know I made a highlight thread yesterday but I have to extra-highlight this bit. this is shit a five year old would think was an own, and it's made worse since Norm clearly isn't putting in effort serving up name distortions to this freakazoid but here he's 100% trying to be clever. he's trying to do wordplay. he's failing strangelove-wow
