Seen in Prague-Karlín, about 30 m away from that other mildly vandalized vehicle. Looking up the licence plate, the owner's full name seems to be Igor Norton Tesla Slovák and it's the first Cybertruck in the country, so he must have spent lots of money importing it and modding it (and bribing officials?) to pass registration.

Yes, Prague is inexplicably car-brained for how dense the public transport network is.

How is this even possible? Like, seriously. No way that Cybertruck has high enough miles that it has bald tires, so how is it stuck in that spot?

This technology is definitely ready for rollout for unsupervised Full Self-Driving in 2 weeks. No doubt...!

Demand for the angular electric pickup has continued to falter in the first quarter, making room for a new king.

The Tesla Cybertruck has lost the top spot on the list of best-selling electric pickup trucks in the United States. After finishing 2024 as a best-seller, Tesla’s only pickup has fallen to second place in the first quarter of this year.

After the first three months, the Cybertruck had amassed 7,126 registrations. The Ford F-150 Lightning overtook it with 7,913 registrations, according to the most recent data from S&P Global Mobility. The Chevrolet Silverado EV finished the first quarter in third place, followed by the GMC Sierra EV, Rivian R1T and GMC Hummer EV.

I was watching a Cybertruck driver “test the truck’s wade mode,” and was treated to some accidental comedy.

He manages to break a wheel well cover off, fry the electronics for the bed, and flood the frame. Like, enough water in the frame that he can hear it.

In short, definitely ready to be a boat. Propeller accessory when?!

In 2019, Tesla set out to lower insurance rates for owners of its electric cars. The goal was simple, at least in theory: fix the broken cost of car insurance. Instead, Tesla may have broken its own calculator trying to make sense of repair costs.

See, Musk's vision of Tesla's insurance product was that traditional companies just didn't "get it." Tesla's data claims that its Full Self-Driving software has fewer accidents than a human driver. Plus, its cars are rolling computers that can collect copious amounts of data on its drivers and adjust risk based on their driving. So why wouldn't drivers get a lower rate for putting around with FSD enabled if they also happen to be a safe driver? Tesla quickly found out that despite these assumptions, it's still taking a bath on claim-related losses.

The data comes from S&P Global and shows that the automaker's insurance subsidiary took a loss ratio of 103.3 in 2024. The loss ratio, for those who don't know, is the amount of money that Tesla pays out per claim versus the money it takes in from premiums. The lower the number, the better, and break-even is a flat 100. In 2024, the rest of the industry averaged 66.1.

Ernest says the children were initially cheering the Cybertruck, but their enthusiasm turned to skepticism when the truck experienced an issue that rendered it undrivable.

The issue began when Ernest drove his 10-year-old son to a baseball match in his Cybertruck.

Ernest placed his son’s baseball gear in the front trunk (frunk); however, when they arrived at the field, the frunk wouldn’t open.

This is quite frustrating; however, the Cybertruck owner and father stated he was prepared to drive 40 minutes back home to fetch a replacement glove for his son.

Regrettably, despite his willingness to make this sacrifice to support his child, Ernest states that the Cybertruck detected an issue with the frunk and went into “Limp Mode.”

This is where the truck limits the top speed to 15 miles per hour, meaning that, besides repositioning the vehicle to be towed, there is nothing the owner can do.

At this point, Ernest says he was so frustrated that he briefly considered tying a rope around the frunk, connecting it to a tree, and yanking the frunk open.

Tesla told Austin workers on its Model Y and Cybertruck lines to stay home for the week of Memorial Day, three workers told Business Insider.

The break is unusually long, the workers said. Production lines were up and running during the same period last year, they said.

The electric vehicle maker notified employees earlier this week. The workers, who are paid hourly, were told they could either take paid time off or come in for cleaning and training but would not be working on the production line.

Tesla deliveries dropped 13% year over year during the first quarter.

Tesla has confirmed its latest bait-and-switch: Cybertruck owners will not get the Autosteer feature they paid for.

Instead, they will get a year of ‘Supervised Full Self-Driving’.

When Tesla started delivering the Cybertruck in late 2023, the software was incomplete, especially regarding its Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS) features like ‘Supervised (FSD) Full Self-Driving’, which was included in the price of all early Cybertrucks.

It took Tesla almost a year to start releasing its FSD on the Cybertruck.

After Tesla stopped making new Cybertruck Foundation Series, which are fully loaded with all options, buyers started to have the option of buying the $8,000 FSD package or keeping only the Autopilot package, which is included in the price.

Autopilot’s two main features are Traffic Aware Cruise Control and Autosteer. The first is self-explanatory, while Autosteer is Tesla’s name for active lane keeping.

The vast majority of Tesla vehicle owners don’t buy the FSD package.

As of now, 16 months after Tesla started delivering the Cybertruck, the automaker has yet to deliver Autosteer on the electric pickup truck.

Today, Tesla started reaching out to Cybertruck owners to let them know that it won’t make Autosteer available for Cybertruck owners who haven’t bought FSD:

“As we improve our Autopilot technology, our feature sets will change. Accordingly, Autosteer will not be available for Cybertruck outside of Full Self-Driving (Supervised).“

Instead, Tesla offers a year of free FSD trial to Cybertruck owners.
