The moderation team would stay the same. We’ll keep a pinned post here to say we are moving.

We’ll promote it on !communitypromo@lemmy.ca and !newcommunities@lemmy.world

Impact for people here would be minimal. We can even ping regular posters and commenters like https://lemmy.world/post/24312613

We can always revisit later if needed.

Hello everyone,

This post is kind of the continuation of another post on !moviesandtv@lemm.ee : https://lemm.ee/post/57999596

In summary, the question is what to do with the multiple lemm.ee communities related to TV shows.

Lemmy has a whole has quite a few of those. At the moment, there is, by order of active weekly users, first one being the most active

For TV shows:

https://lemmyverse.net/communities?query=television&order=active

As you can see, it's quite messy, with a few recent communities. You see people from time to time mentioning how the first "multi-community" they create on apps like Voyager is one to get all the TV communities in one feed.

There are a few options we could consider here

Option 1. Select one lemm.ee community, redirect everyone to it, and lock the two other ones with a pinned post redirecting to the main ones, while keeping all posts and comments up.

The argument of "different instances" and "different moderation teams" doesn't really apply here and the three of them are on the same instances, and moderated by the same people.

A script can be used to ping everyone who posted and commented recently to make sure that people follow through. Example: https://lemmy.world/post/24312613

Option 2. Keep all the communities open

Leave them all open, and accept that people may not find the more active communities, and get decision fatigue as those three communities would basically be the same (same instance, same moderation team).

Other options - your suggestions

Feel free to provide your suggestions in the comments.

As a note, I'm not offering a "give a new mod team", as any person wanting to volunteer as a mod would we welcome on !showsandmovies@lemm.ee (application post in the sidebar)

The Wire is my all time favorite. Currently watching The Shield and while it’s not bad, it’s more of an edgy Law and Order type cop show.

I don’t think anything truly measures up to The Wire but just wanted to hear about anyone else’s recommendations.

Set at the start of the 17th century, three years after the end of the Imjin War, Kingdom takes place in a fictional, medieval-inspired Joseon (modern-day Korea) and blends political thriller and elements from zombie horror.

Warner Bros. Discovery is once again experimenting with sampling some of its premium pay TV and streaming content on its owned cable networks, this time sampling HBO‘s “True Detective: Night Country” and Max’s “Hacks.”

Beginning on March 28, “True Detective: Night Country,” which consists of six episodes, will air on TNT.

From April 3-7, “Hacks” will air its first three seasons on TBS with two episodes going back to back per night. The event leads into the “Hacks” Season 4 premiere April 10 on Max.

As is customary for mature content, the episodes will be edited to meet the standards and practices guidelines for cable.

A few days after Netflix's gut-wrenching cancelation of The Recruit, its showrunner and creator, Alexi Hawley, is letting the disappointment roll off like water off a duck's back, and he's ready to dive straight into another project. The man who is also behind the fan-favorite police procedural, The Rookie, is in the process of developing another network cop series, according to a new Deadline report. The yet-untitled series is in development at NBC and has already found its star in Jon Huertas, whom many will recognize for his role as Jack's best friend, Miguel Rivas, in the Emmy Award-winning series This Is Us. Huertas, in addition to starring, will serve as executive producer alongside Hawley, with Rachel Abarbanell as co-executive producer.

Like The Rookie, the series will center on the LAPD but will tell a markedly different story as inspired by Candice Fox's bestselling novel, Fire with Fire. Wendy Mericle (So Help Me Todd, Willow) will develop a script while serving as co-showrunner. The project already has an intriguing premise in place and it reads:

"When a pair of grieving parents hijack an LAPD forensics lab and threaten to start destroying evidence until the police find their missing daughter, an unlikely partnership between grizzled undercover cop Enrique Arroyo (Huertas) and rookie flame-out Lynette Lamb is forged as they race to solve this cold case before the situation explodes."

I can't believe Lucasfilm reportedly has 60 scripts for a Star Wars television show that have largely gone unused. Although it's been a matter of record for several years, new details about George Lucas' Star Wars: Underworld have recently been revealed. To that end, many have been wondering if the fascinating series will ever become a reality.

One of the last projects George Lucas worked on before selling Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012, Star Wars: Underworld was intended to be a major multi-season show the likes of which had never been seen before on network television. However, there are some key reasons why the show never got made. However, I firmly believe that the time has come for Lucasfilm to finally make Star Wars: Underworld a reality, especially seeing how 60 out of a hundred intended scripts were apparently written for the series before its cancellation.

According to reports, Star Wars: Underworld was George Lucas's big idea and mission in the late 2000s, shortly after getting the animated Clone Wars series off the ground in 2008. Gathering several accomplished television writers to Skywalker Ranch, around 60 third-draft scripts were written for this intended series set during the Dark Times of the Empire's rule, between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Story arcs would have focused on Palpatine, Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Han Solo, and Lando Calrissian, with many actors like Ian McDiarmid and Jeremy Bulloch intending to return for the show.

Underworld would have been predominantly set in the lower levels of Coruscant, while also tying into the intended video game 1313 from LucasArts that was also cancelled shortly after the series. Confirmed to be darker and more geared toward adult audiences, it seems Lucas intended for a big chunk of the Star Wars franchise to start growing up with its audience. However, it ultimately wasn't meant to be.
