And Canadas next. This is not a drill. The orange shitgibbon and followers are not joking. Canadians will need to defend this country ourselves - even as our leaders continue to appease and suck up to the rogue US regime.
Not me. I will be taking The Long Sleep if the US invades.
The easy way out. Let’s at least go out partying like it’s 1812.
Burn the White House again, not like it’s occupied anymore.
You can do as you please. That’s not for me. I’ve been in a heightened state of anxiety for the past three days and it’s only going to get worse.
Exactly.
Confirm your trusted networks and trusted comms. Start planning ahead. Store 72h of food and water, make sure you have spare gas for generators. Establish meeting points. Stock up on first aid and medical supplies. Set a family rule for breaking news: “confirm before share” (at least two reputable sources; pause on ragebait, defend against disinfo social fracture. Get to know your neighbours, get involved in community, learn patterns.
If you have firearms make sure you have needed ammo and supplies.
If you have budget, learn to build and fly drones... Start with a cheap sim.
You’re describing a world not worth living in.
Sorry, but these are prudent things to do if you wish to prepare for potential military activity in your country, or indeed some other form of catastrophic event.
You may choose to do these or you may not, but whether you want to live in this world may be irrelevant to whether it is thrust upon you.
And if one's choice is instead to simply fold over and let someone like the US take over their country, I highly recommend that they keep that to themselves, and don't get in the way of the people who are willing to fight. To be neutral is one thing, to be a traitor is rather another, and traitors do not historically get treated very kindly, particularly during occupation, when the state is too busy to enforce due process and mob justice is more likely. Mob justice is characteristically unpleasant.
You’ve missed my entire point. I’ll be choosing to take The Long Sleep if the US invades. Our country would never be normal again.
Please forgive my hard edged tone, it was too much and I own it. Let's put politics aside. I know we're talking about a hypothetical, but regardless, what you're saying sounds like despair. Please don't make a permanent decision based on the unknown right now, and reach out to someone if you need to talk.
I get why it feels like “nothing would ever be normal again.” That fear makes sense. But you seem to be saying there are no options, and I don't think that's true. People do survive huge disruptions and later rebuild a life that’s meaningful again; sometimes they stay, sometimes they relocate.
You don't need to be alone with your thoughts on this, and if you feel that way please reach out to someone or call 988 if you just feel like you need to talk.
I am not planning to do anything unless they actually invade. Even then I’ll just hope the first wave of bombings get me. I watched The Walking Dead for years and I’m not interested in being part of a post-apocalyptic dystopia. The things I value most are comfort, safety, and security, and the US stands to take those things away from me. And to think just a few years ago I wanted to move to Los Angeles.
