The sentiment that everybody you don't like is a foreign agent is a symptom of a very rotten society.

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 49 points 1 year ago

Many people claiming it may be a symptom of a rotten society, but many people actually believing it is a symptom of irreparable stupidity (yes libs, I know you're reading this)

[–] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 35 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's really funny because nearly everyone hates 'the government', but when you suggest that maybe the system itself is also to blame, you're suddenly a 'foreign agitator'

[–] Jorgelino@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If not voting helped overthrow the government in any way maybe you'd have a point

[–] homhom9000@hexbear.net 24 points 1 year ago (1 children)

In what way would voting help?

[–] Jorgelino@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Never said it did. They're two unrelated things. Which is why i don't understand why voting for the "lesser of two evils" means i support them, or capitalism in any way.

This whole argument feels like the old "if you're a communist, why do you have a phone?" thing all over again.

A vote legitimises the government. By voting for someone you signal that you approve of their politics. A vote is very basically you signalling that you support a specific candidate. That's just what a vote is.
"Oh but I don't actually support him, he's just the least bad" Do you think Joe Biden is going to go door to door to ask wether your vote for him was a "real vote" or just a "please not trump" vote? biden-alert
It doesn't matter what you feel about the candidate you're voting for, it matters that you're voting for them. That's what they count.

It doesn't matter what you think your vote is, what it does is support a candidates claim for power and subsequently legitimises that power. The US constantly uses the fact that it is a "democracy" (never mind the fact that it isn't, since popular vote doesn't matter) to legitimise it's foreign and domestic policy. Your vote aids them in doing that.

Anyway I've blocked you because I don't discuss basic politics with people who votes for genocide.

lol

Death to America

[–] Jorgelino@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Unless you're planning on starting a revolution tomorrow, i'm still subject to whatever the policies the people in power install, so i'd rather pick the one that harms me and the people i care about the least.

Though i'm not sure why i bother arguing. You people just want to feel superior for doing nothing.

Average “US election” between democrats and republicans

The USA is much more responsible for nazi Germany than people realize.

[–] Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net 45 points 1 year ago

[–] edge@hexbear.net 37 points 1 year ago

I wish I could make money doing this.

Education and media, horrendous food quality and no exercise.

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 33 points 1 year ago

Y'all are gonna hurt our fedposting's feelings.

[–] Dimmer06@hexbear.net 30 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Doesn't the average US citizen not vote or vote for a minor party candidate in most presidential elections?

[–] RyanGosling@hexbear.net 22 points 1 year ago

Yes and they’re all tankies

[–] GarbageShoot@hexbear.net 22 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think a plurality don't vote, which isn't quite as dire but still pretty grim in terms of popular participation

[–] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 18 points 1 year ago

During the 2022 midterms only 52.2% of the eligible population actually voted, meaning roughly 26% of the population in either bourgeoise political party determine the course of political economical development of the entire nation, which means roughly 65-70 million voting-age Americans out of 333 million total americans plus other non-citizen residents

[–] usa_suxxx@hexbear.net 28 points 1 year ago

The benefits are amazing. Its much better than my last job at Langley.

[–] PaulSmackage@hexbear.net 24 points 1 year ago

Clocking in to post at the lemmy factory.

[–] Zuzak@hexbear.net 23 points 1 year ago

Is this image from the recent bizarre turn into promoting Russian esports?

The apotheosis of Russian esports is super delayed considering their CS and DOTA skills are legendary. The announcements were so goofy too, you've got to love it.

[–] RyanGosling@hexbear.net 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Plus haven’t most of the Russian players been vocal about not supporting the war? Lmao. They’re punishing people who support their cause just because ruzzia

[–] panned_cakes@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

IDK you're gonna have to relay the gaming journalism about "RuZZians joining army esports team because they don't want to fight for Donbas" to me, not aware

[–] GarbageShoot@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Honestly, there being some variety in who gets pandered to in esport titles would be nice. Fighting games need fewer pop-idol catgirls* and more squat-dancing bearmen. Zangief can only hold down the fort for so long, and no Beowulf doesn't count.

*you, the person reading this, can be a catgirl and that's just fine. Personal catgirl practices are very different from their depiction in media

[–] panned_cakes@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I think the military promotion of esports is long overdue from the Russian higher-ups and it clocks in with their cyber culture being a bit delayed on some things (like their particular variety of Redditor-esque reactionary cringe pandering compared to Ukraine which has been called "2014 neckbeard posting vs 2022 combatfootage psychopath posting" and it tracks for me) and ahead on others such as piracy

o7 to our boys in uniform. Couldn't do it without you all in the 101st Regular Posting brigade

[–] GnastyGnuts@hexbear.net 19 points 1 year ago

Liberals will never accept that even if Russia, China, and Iran did not exist at all, people would still think this government is flopping hard right now.

[–] Des@hexbear.net 18 points 1 year ago

i like how they gave them freeze-gamer chairs to sit in while doing their official military shit

[–] invo_rt@hexbear.net 18 points 1 year ago

this is a picture of the four stack I run into on Tarkov regularly.

[–] Zvyozdochka@hexbear.net 11 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

You can take it to the office's laundry department on floor 4 and they do it free of charge, though if your daily post count isn't high enough they ask for a small fee but I'm usually ok with paying it, it's like 50 rubles/4 yuan which is pretty cheap!
