You claim to be a bird yet you don't appreciate a dirt bath?

very-intelligent

[–] sloth@hexbear.net 20 points 1 year ago

That's why they made de_dust2.

I second this opinion. I hate it too.

[–] Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net 15 points 1 year ago

Please don't take me too seriously, it's just fucking dust

[–] EllenKelly@hexbear.net 13 points 1 year ago (2 children)

The majority of dust in your home is likely deadskin from you and the people and animals you live with, yum!

[–] SerLava@hexbear.net 12 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Why does every funny word mean a drug? I was going to make a dust joke then I remembered it's slang for PCP

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

DARE taught me all the good names for drugs

Angel Dust sounds cooler than PCP

[–] Angel@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago

I ain't got no dust

expert-shapiro dust is merely a smaller particulate form of dirt berdly-smug

[–] the_itsb@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I hate it too. I have long-haired pets and live in a rural place, so it's constant dirt and hair and cruft.

Every time I think very deeply about it, though, I'm reminded of that Star Trek episode with the AI that killed all the dirty humans on its ship/station because they were shedding nasty skin cells everywhere, and I feel like the Avatar of Filth 😂 so I try not to think about it too much

May you someday be dust-free ✨

[–] constantokra@lemmy.one 7 points 1 year ago

From time to time I think of that episode as well... And I feel a deep kinship with that ai.

[–] Angel@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago

Just don't go biting it please.

[–] supafuzz@hexbear.net 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

don't worry, dust hates you too

and it's planning something

[–] macabrett@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I always preferred office or nuke

[–] ButtBidet@hexbear.net 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

assault was just the terrorists camping

[–] macabrett@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

damn I kinda miss playing assault on pub servers in 1.5/1.6 though. People would always try wild strategies to turn the tide and that was fun.

Dirt is just adolescent dust. Dirt_Owl

I liked LavaGiant myself

[–] CarbonScored@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago

House dust, yes. Outside dust, well, dust baths are literally the best thing to see birds and small mammals in.

Dust management tips:

Vacuum first, dust after - otherwise you're going to dust surfaces then the vacuum is going to kick up a bunch of dust to settle on your freshly-dusted surfaces

Exfoliate daily. Moisturising probably helps too. Not even kidding.

A vacuum with a HEPA filter is going to do a better job of eliminating dust.

When dusting, use a fluffy microfibre cloth or a damp cloth so that the dust gets collected. The old school feather duster method is only useful for kicking up dust and redistributing it around the place.

Air purification can sequester a lot of dust from your environment. A Corsi-Rosenthal box is extremely cheap to make and they're very effective.

Idk if a negative ion generator is a good idea - there are some risks and considerations to weigh up before you should decide to buy one.

the dust is you

[–] ButtBidet@hexbear.net 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Do you live on ground level near a road? I've been in a flat for a few years, I swear it feels like there's no much less dust.

[–] ButtBidet@hexbear.net 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I, for one, feel a strong kinship with our beloved dust mite comrades.

Let the struggle session begin!

[–] Owl@hexbear.net 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah, dusting is my least favorite chore too.
