You are kinda right, though:
The city originally planned to put the structures in Barrhaven, but, after community pushback there, said one shelter would now be located near the Nepean Sportsplex and the other near the Eagleson Road Park and Ride in Kanata.

Anyways, my greater point is that we've been an immigrant nation for a good while now. Little rude to pull the ladder behind us.
I think it could be considered cruel and unusual to force asylum seekers to live in Kanata.
The NIMBY is strong in Kanata.
Build proper shit and not these stupid tent villages.. that's my only gripe.
Going by an email from the MPP for the area, that's exactly what they're doing: building proper shit. It's just not brick-by-brick: they're using prefabbed walls/floors/etc instead. The email specifically calls this out because of the misinformation going around about it :)
