I am a biological woman. I identify as such. I don't know what the same person plus 30+ minutes with a curling iron has to do with cheating. Effort? Vanity? This is far, far beyond me somehow. I am also very old so there's that.
Probably personality?
I think you helped me crack it, i think it's saying that the person who looks like you but puts in more effort to their appearance on the regular is more attractive. That makes sense to me, and would be true in the main for most people, it's one of the most common things said to people who are struggling to find partners.
You could take negative connotations from that about that person being vain but really it should be on the cheater for being a fucking cheater.
puts in more effort to their appearance on the regular
Nah. My wife has naturally wavy hair. She goes to work with it blow-dried, flattened, and a little plain-looking. On weekends she does none of those things, and it looks gorgeous and wavy and bouncy. Maybe I just have a definite preference -- Even Jen Psaki on the TV - gorgeous already - looks better in her other, more natural style, and she's probably got advisors telling her to vamp it up.
Ok, as a man, I can see that these are two different hairstyles. Visually, it's obviously the same person but with slightly different configurations of hair. Where I'm lost is that this meme seems to imply that one is better than the other. Which is the superior look? I don't know. That doesn't mean I cannot differentiate between the two, it means I am out of touch with whatever is stylish at the moment. There's nothing objectively more or less beautiful in these photos. Maybe one style is easier to maintain, and the difference is supposed to sugest that one of them takes better care of their hair? Or maybe they are too fussy and vain to a fault? This is specialized knowledge that can only be shared via communication. You cannot discover it on your own like some scientific truth. You must learn it from someone else who knows.
The people who are snarky about people not knowing something like this are the worst sort of snobs. Not only are they mocking people who haven't been included in the secret, they are wasting an opportunity to share knowledge to do it.
My read of the meme was that the similarity is the point. "You vs the girl he cheats with", if one was significantly more attractive than the other would probably imply that it's the woman's fault for not being more attractive. But by showing them both basically the same, the message is "if he's a cheater, he's gonna cheat, no matter what you do. It's on him."
But maybe I'm putting too much thought into it.
That's an interesting take. So basically a cheater isn't being drawn into anything because of a specific desirable trait that you lack, it's just that he's a piece of shit who wants to cheat.
Yeah... But brain rot will have you believe if they cheat, you need to attack the person they cheated on you with.
Yes the point is that they're similar, but with the added layer that you're supposed to prefer the left because it looks more natural whereas the right looks like they tried too hard to achieve the same look and failed.
Hah, this guy doesn’t get it
I suspect the hidden meaning is that guys apparently cheat on people who are fundamentally no different to the person they're cheating on.
The implication being that guys cheat for the sake of it, rather than because there's a difference in the person they're with.
For clarity, I'm not saying I believe any of that. I think it sounds like utter nonsense. No doubt it's true for some people, but I think applying it to a wider group isn't very reasonable.
Well, people do tend to have a type, right?
What in the Victorian over complicated aristocracy social rules is this bullshit?
I feel like it doesn't mean anything, it's just trolling.
Then the troll is a shitty human.
No clue.
But it looks better on the left imo.
I won't even pretend I know where to begin. Same girl, different hairstyle, that's all I can gather, no clue on possible hidden meanings
Maybe she is the type that when he cheats she claims to be strong while immediately changing her appearance & posting nonstop pictures on social media of all the "fun" she is having without him while making sure to tag him in every one.
I'm a woman and I don't understand this My immediate thought is something about the tighter curls on the right implying she has a tighter grip on his dick
He will cheat with a cheaper-looking, tackier wannabe of the girlfriend/spouse.
The cheaper tackier girl had to try emulate the look of the original in order to attempt to be on the same league, which she’s never be.
Since he’s not cheating with a "better version" of yourself, it’s a bit reassuring for a woman’s ego; it’s just "sex" and he’s not gonna leave you for that slut.
The man’s still a stupid idiot for cheating though.
I dunno anything about styling longer hair, but I'm going to guess that the tighter curls on the right look less messy. But it does seem like a pretty toxic attitude displayed.
Maybe it's boys cheat with women similar to their actual girlfriend?
That actually sounds logical.
I'm betting that in the image on the right she's wearing hair extensions.
There does seem to be a lot of hushed discussion about hair extensions.
I think it's the tightness of the curls
I saw this a while ago on reddit, and the explanation in the comments was something about brushing the curls out for a more "natural" look, with the one on the right being worse for not doing it.
Or natural vs fake?
It's the same person at different stages of styling. They're both the same level of artificial/natural, however you measure that.
To clarify: the right is the curls you create with heat, the left is after you carefully brush them out a bit so they appear more natural. So it's a before (well, mid way) and after, left to right. Most people prefer the natural looking styling.
Looks like natural curl pattern vs manually hand twisted curls maybe?
I assumed that "he" is cheating on his partner with this girl. Like, it's the same person, because this is the person he's having an affair with.
The joke is for the in group and we're not in it.
I think it's supposed to be that the 2nd hairstyle is considered lower class
I'm not gay and I do see a slight difference between the two, but the difference is pretty minimal IMHO. What this person sees, I have no clue. It's significant for them, though.
I think people are overthinking this. That's just a variation of the "you vs the guy she told you don't worry about".
Obviously if I don't understand the joke then it's crossposted engagement bait. And I'm sticking to that mindset.
In this thread: men who don't understand women or hair.
