Ruined? Those auctioneer will spin some artsy story and it will be a million pound art. It's money laundering after all.

[–] I_Has_A_Hat@lemmy.world 13 points 7 months ago

The difference between art and graffiti is about 100 years.

[–] katja@lemmy.blahaj.zone 80 points 7 months ago (3 children)

Story is wrong, it was his last day.

[–] vaguerant@fedia.io 73 points 7 months ago (1 children)

You're not wrong.

The security guard has since been fired and the police have opened a criminal investigation.

  1. I knew I'd read this before.

That was his day on the job.

Of all of his days on the job, this was all of them

[–] mvirts@lemmy.world 39 points 7 months ago

I just wish it was the original artist who got a job as a security guard just for this

A conservationist should be able to remove the ink. I doubt it’s “ruined”.

Edit: looked it up, apparently restoration cost about $5k. Not ruined, but definitely a costly little stunt.

Article where the guard explains a bit

[–] ChillCapybara@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 7 months ago

He explains that some teenage girls handed him a pen and said draw eyes on it. And he was like, okay sure I guess.

[–] Kusimulkku@lemm.ee 30 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Who the hell is that stupid lmao

[–] gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world 29 points 7 months ago

Daily Mail readers

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago

In this context a security guard.

[–] Zacryon@feddit.org 27 points 7 months ago (1 children)

"ruined" in the eyes of the ones. "Upgraded" in the eyes of others.

Taste in art is highly individual as can be seen here again.

[–] intensely_human@lemm.ee 1 points 7 months ago

“eyesed” in the eyes of the literal

[–] FelixCress@lemmy.world 20 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

He may have added value.

[–] Maelvie@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 7 months ago

Making art with art 👌

[–] boaratio@lemmy.world 12 points 7 months ago

I think it makes it better.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 11 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Should have used googly eyes

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 5 points 7 months ago

It was his first day, he only had the pen in his pocket.

And what have we learned, kids?

Always carry a pocketful of googly eyes!

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 11 points 7 months ago

They should promote him, its much better now.

[–] Feyr@lemmy.world 10 points 7 months ago

They misspelled improved

[–] Jikiya@lemmy.world 4 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Sweet, the Russian army gets more meat for it's grinder. You would think Russian serfs would be more careful about breaking the law during these mass sacrifice times.

[–] brown567@sh.itjust.works 2 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

He was actually a veteran with significant injuries, so he's already been through the grinder

[–] AMillionMonkeys@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

You should use Linux.

[–] BeardedGingerWonder@feddit.uk 3 points 7 months ago

Has he been arrested like those people with the harmless orange powder?

[–] Linktank@lemmy.today 1 points 7 months ago

Both versions suck.
