Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

I took off my FitBit and have never put it back on. I don't know who might be getting that information.

Fuck you in the neck, RFK.

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 4 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Oh hey, overt “mark of beast” stuff.

Let’s see if the evangelical pearl-clutchers pour out of the woodwork when one of their tribe does it.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 23 hours ago

Haha! So true.

What's funny is that even the craziest end times type of xtians that believe that shit will still carry a phone with them everywhere. I used to have fun with a few of them that I know of pointing out that, hey, they pretty much need it for everything now, what do you think that means, hmmm?

They try that "but but but it's not the gubbermint doing it! It's the private sector." and I ask - who do you think runs GPS satellites? :)

It's a sliding scale for these people. Used to be these types would point at Social Security numbers and claim that was the "mark of the beast". Then it was credit cards. Then it was UPCs. Then RFIDs. And now they carry phones with NFC on virtually every single one of them, along with a GPS tracker, LOL.

And now we have systems that can track people by recognizing their gait and their face, as well as other biometrics. There are things reading license plates. So does it even matter what you might carry on you, or not, at least if you live/work in certain cities?

A Trump supporter coworker won’t scan a QR code because he thinks it will hack his brain, but he is over the moon excited to get one of these health tracking devices.

I think out of all the freaks given positions in the regime, this asshole will do the most harm, kill the most people and cause the most suffering over the longest time span -- and that's saying a lot.

so microchips in vaccines are bad, but macrochips are good?

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

I still had to laugh at watching Bill Gates trying to process the wildly stupid notion of microchips in vaccines...watching him talk through it made it seem even wayyyy stupider that before, and it was already a very, very stupid thing.

Seeing his daughter react to some of that, as well....she's a bit more socially aware, and much more cognizant of just how fucking stupid the typical human being can be when it comes to conspiracy theories....so she's trying to rein him in from saying something the slack-jawed yokels are going to point at and go, "See! I told y'uns! It's awl troooo!"

This data will go to Palentir. Hell no

[–] MuskyMelon@lemmy.world 46 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So how many shares does RFK Jr have in Fitbit?

[–] jagermo@feddit.org 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Eric Migicovsky kills everything he creates.

[–] EndOfLine@lemmy.world 33 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Why? Are all Americans going to get health care to make use of that collected health tracking data?

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago

No, but our providers will use the data to deny us care.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 39 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I would rather they would employ strong measures to protect any data related to such devices - with severe penalties to those that break the rules - including the revocation of corporate charters.

[–] jhymesba@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Indeed. I do believe that the key to better health is actionable information and a gameplan for how to maintain health. But with the Shitgibbon in office, and his merry band of miscreants running the show, I can't determine if my smartwatch will give me good readings or not, and ensure that only I get to access that data, unless I explicitly choose to let someone else access it.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Indeed. I could see a day where people deemed "unpersons" (basically anyone not sufficiently worshiping the likes of Taco) would have their data swept up and weaponized against them by insurance companies, their place of employment, etc.

Or have their devices bricked, etc...

Even w/o the likes of conservatives and Republicans, Doctorow's Enshittification comes for virtually everything, so....

[–] iAvicenna@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago

RFK Jr wants to make some money by selling health data to health insurance crooks

How bout no

[–] zbyte64@awful.systems 12 points 1 day ago

Don't make our environment healthier but do keep tabs on how unhealthy you are made.

Is that another way of saying he can chortle my balls?

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

That’s probably a great way for a very confused brain worm to infect your balls.

So I'd been considering getting a used smart watch with fitness tracking stuff and audio controls (I listen to audio books at work but have to pause fairly frequently), what should I be looking for to keep my data away from the ghouls? I know about the PineTime, how ready for less techy consumers is that right now?

[–] blargh513@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago

Mark of the beast.

Nope.

[–] scottmeme@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago

RFK Autism Nazi can jump in a volcano

[–] ijedi1234@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

I would like to announce that I am dead. My new health tracking app can prove it.

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I’m sure he means evil, but wearables really can be a boon to health. His agency really needs to be more proactive with establishing privacy protections and certifying accuracy’s/correctness, to make this really take off.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago

I 100% agree. If a government with good intentions helps to get more of this in the hands of people and ensures that their data STAYS their data, it could be a good thing.

I don't trust any of the monsters in this administration, though.
