Pedro stays based

Remember a few months ago where there was that weird push to get people to dislike Pedro Pascal for some reason? It didn't even have a source other than "He's popular and in a lot of big stuff, so you must hate him."

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 156 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The reason was his public support of his trans sister.

[–] drcobaltjedi@programming.dev 44 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Oh, so douchebags hate him.

I know he got in a fight or something with that woman that was on mandalorian and the 1st deadpool over trans rights because he was close to someone trans. I didn't dive deeper into it since there was a clear ones a dirtbag and the other is chill.

He seems like a nice dude, but you never know, honestly.

I love Conan, for example, and have been watching his show and listening to his podcast for years now, but I won't delude myself into thinking I know him or what he stands for in his personal life.

[–] shplane@lemmy.world 24 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

Ya but Conan doesn’t stick his neck out to support marginalized people like Pascal does. I don’t know him personally, but all evidence points to Pascal being a good person.

Dude is aware of what it's like living in dictatorship in his ancestral country of Chile.

Hang on, Brazil rebuffed Trump's strong arming to go easy on Bolsonaro. And Pedro having the big balls to stand up to Trump. There seems to be pattern of two countries that suffered under a dictatorship. Who again supported the dictatorship in these countries before?

This man becomes more and more irresistibly hansom the more he speaks.

Reminder that Pedro Pascal is related to Salvador Allande, democraticly elected communist whom the US overthrew and replaced with a fascist dictatorship.

The coup involved flying a plane into the Capitol on 9/11, 1971

Edit: 1973, and a plane flying missiles into the capitol building.

1973 Chilean coup d'état

I assume you mean 1973.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/50CTJnPn0RC2tXg18zfcXxy/the-scots-who-stopped-air-strikes-by-a-violent-chilean-dictator

By flying a plane into the capitol you mean using military planes to fire rockets at the La Moneda Palace.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago

LOL. I guess history doesn't have to be accurate.

Might as well just change the headline to say: "Pedro Pascal is on the right side of history" because like most others here on the federated internet he knows what's up and for him it probably started with his sister coming out.

All it takes is a little wake up call.
And now I'm thinking of the movie The Matrix again..
And if you're looking to support Pedro Pascal, may I interest you in this little (scifi-western) independent film he made with Sophie Thatcher?

Maybe Disney didn't expect the subscription backlash and it's trying to reduce losses by asking it's spokespeople to give them a reason to "cave"

Maybe it's just Pascal being a good dude. Hard to know sadly, hope it's the 🪜.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 56 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He's spoken out on sensitive issues before I have no reason to doubt him here.

[–] Batman@lemmy.world 21 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Alright, then I'm glad. Good for him saying what needs to be said. Dont follow celebrities. Probably to a fault.

[–] Kalothar@lemmy.ca 15 points 2 weeks ago

Thank you, Batman

If you zoom in on that emoji, you can see in the background where The Undertaker is throwing Mankind off Hell in a Cell, and plummeting 16 feet through an announcer's table.

At the current rate things are deteriorating, I reckon Pedro Pascal has about 3 months left of being a US citizen :(

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

90% of new movie lead roles about to open up

[–] etherphon@piefed.world 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He's already a millionaire and there are other studios....

[–] shplane@lemmy.world 19 points 2 weeks ago (5 children)

You can get blocklisted in Hollywood very easily just by pissing off one studio. These tv executives definitely talk to each other.

I'm a bit tired of seeing him in so much so suddenly, but if it's going to be anyone I'm glad it's someone as moral as Pascal.

the only way to hurt disney is people cancelling thier disney+, espn, hulu plus subscription. it will be hard for marvel and SW fans to cancel it, since thier so addicted to the franchises. there is a reason why disney is shoveling so much MARVEL garbage to the streams, its keeping ti afloat.

[–] Bennyboybumberchums@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (3 children)

it will be hard for marvel and SW fans to cancel it

...You must not have seen to much of that stuff of late... Its not gonna be the Sophies choice you think it is.

"They are" doesn't have an "i".

To conjoin those two words, you delete the "a" from "are", replace it with an apostrophe, and push them up together, getting: "they're"

They are

V

They re

V

They 're

V

They're

Is this guy ever anything but awesome?

I don't want to see him in all the things, but I'm damn not complaining about how much he's in.
