Constantly flabbergasted by the sheer levels of cowardice on display by every. single. institution in this country.

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 56 points 1 week ago (4 children)

I think it's people not wanting to lose their jobs. They killed jobs so you have to hang on to the one you have. Even if it's against your morals.

Does your family go hungry for principles? Quite the question.

[–] MisterOwl@lemmy.world 58 points 1 week ago

In this case yes. It's the fucking holocaust museum licking Nazi boots. There are other jobs.

[–] Sunshine@piefed.ca 22 points 1 week ago

They will come for for everyone even those who "keep their jobs"

If anyone should understand the lessons of fascist appeasement learned in WW2, you'd think it would be the people running a Holocaust museum. Go figure.

Just say No, Sara Bloomfield. You've been a literal director of a Holocaust museum for decades, what part of that job taught you to hide your head in the sand.

[–] crunchy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 20 points 1 week ago

it's well beyond cowardice at this point. they're eager to comply the second an EO is so much as hinted at. this is absolute subservience and I hope history remembers them.

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

That’s why leaders of companies and organizations make the big bucks. They’re there to make tough decisions and set a good example for the rest of us.

[–] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I'm constantly flabbergasted that Americans continue to expect institutions to do the resisting while they do nothing.

Down in the Arkansas Delta, about 40 miles from anywhere, there's lots of soybean fields. In one particular field, which you wouldn't even notice if you weren't looking for it, there is a small grove of trees.

If you walk around the perimeter, you'll find little speaker boxes along the way. When you activate each one, you'll hear the voice of none other than George Takei talking about the place you're standing in. It's the site of the Rohwer internment camp where thousands of Americans, including Takei, were shipped in by rail and held prisoner during WWII for no other reason than they were of Japanese descent.

There's no sign of an internment camp there now. The only remains are monuments the prisoners built to their friends and family members who were killed fighting for the Allies.

Some people are stupid or naive enough to believe that the United States can do no wrong. Some are even arrogant enough to think that admitting we were wrong is "unpatriotic". Yet, like every empire that has ever existed, the US has committed many wrongs. History cannot be erased, undone, or whitewashed, despite the pathetic attempts of sad despots. And if we choose not to learn from it, we will soon repeat it.

That’s right folks! Being American now means you reject basic facts and history. Btw, did you know Tylenol causes Autism and its the gulf of America now?

Oh yeah, and if you don’t comply with the new “American” brainwashing you get targeted as a terrorist to America, the land of the free

[–] aeternum@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 1 week ago

FREEEEEEEEDOM. AMERICA IS THE FREEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. NOW GET DOWN ON YOUR HANDS AND KNEES AND GROVEL TO DEAR LEADER DUMPY OR YOU'LL BE DEPORTED!

Yea no, they became what they are today by doing just that. Anything negative was swept under the rug, called anti-usa or censored. Nothing new about it.

With propangada for their public as the greatest country in the world while marketing themselves as the land of opportunity. It was obviously exploitation to make the rich people richer. But workers couldn't be bothered with that as an embarrassed millionaire.

There's a reason they control most of influential news/social media.

Now, they feel invincible, they're just riding on propagandah. They feel they don't need the smartest people driven with brain drain around the world.

Just FYI: The Holocaust museum is NOT part of the Smithsonian. They have even more reason to give King Diapers the finger but they're voluntarily bending the knee.

[–] xxce2AAb@feddit.dk 45 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Hey, you know what's really anti-American? You'll never guess.

Same headline every day: Facist leader brings America further into Facism. Americans do nothing.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 28 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Some Americans are resisting in tons of different ways. There have been 24/7 "music festivals" (ICE protests that get labeled as music festivals because Tiktok will take down videos tagged with protests.) in LA and Portland for months now. Americans have been shot defending their neighbors, ICE agents have been shot.

It's important to remember that the Billionaires control the news and they won't air anything that makes it look like the common folk have a chance of resisting.

More reason public non profit news and radio is essential.

Also the reason those things are so expensive to run.

C'mon man, you know Americans always do the right thing.

Once they've tried everything else.

[–] FarmTaco@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago (2 children)

hey that's not fair, sometimes we try the wrong thing twice.

Oh its more than one stupid person. American diversion from reality has been in the making for over a decade.

[–] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 26 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Actually even longer. Fox News was thought up after Nixon's resignation with the expressed intent of making sure that a conservative politician would never have to face consequences like that again.

Yeah up until 2016 we were just minding our own business invading other countries for oil.

[–] DreamlandLividity@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (3 children)

And the genius of it was that no one (other than the invaded countries) really cared because the US accumulated so much soft power, goodwill and general positive impression. Trump undid in a few months what took generations to build.

I’d like to think Americas reputation has been down the pan for decades. They’re warmongering, other country meddling, global terrorists at best.

The people can be alright, but the government are no better than the people they tell us to hate.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Yeah laugh it up... The fascists have infected most of you're countries as well. Please learn from our blunders.

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 31 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Hello, anyone there? Israel? ADL? Any comment on this?

[–] TuffNutzes@lemmy.world 38 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Trump gave them a blank check to exterminate Palestinians, so what'a a little fascism between friends.

Who controls the past, controls the future.
Who controls the present, controls the past.

Or history is written by the victors.

Ironically the US Holocaust Museum is basically a part of Israel's PR wing and has done extensive work in whitewashing Israel's modern-day Holocaust in Palestine, even saying that "Never again" only means "never again for Jews" and genocides of other people is OK. It should be shut down for that reason, not Trump's.

Last week, through a sad chain of sycophancy, the Holocaust Museum was forced to make the following compromise: "Never again means never again only for Jews."

The "genocide is bad" thinking is part of the woke mind virus that just hates America and loves abortions.

FYI, the money behind holocaust museum was always meant to promote Zionism, and Zionazi colonialism, apartheid, and genocide and rule over America. They could have just said "Americans under a Democratic Administration." to better align with US government's fake partisan view on Zionazi rule.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago (12 children)

So they want to cover up the truth that people in the US lobbied the whole world to not to take the Jews in leading to the final solution. Don't forget providing material support to the Nazi and IBM lending the computer power to make the final solution a reality.

Does it remind you of another genocide taking place that wouldn't be happening without the support and help from the US government and their corporations?

It is almost like we were never the good guys and WWII was just one fascist nation cleaning up another fascist nation's mess.

It's not anti-American to recognize the shitty parts of your past if the goal is to learn from it to improve the future.

It is an extremely shitty thing to recognize the shitty parts of your past if the goal is to recreate them.

[–] lemmyknow@lemmy.today 12 points 1 week ago

And I spoken't, for I ain't no holocaust museum

~~Never again~~

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

For now, at least, the information and artifacts are being preserved.

If they stay in power past 2028, that will end, they'll start destroying it permanently, when they find it.

We need to get this stuff out of the country, someplace safer. Perhaps Germany?
