Why go to the trouble of putting a gray box when you could just have put a white box over the censorship scribble?

Those have cameras now. Walmart's will lock you out and call an employee over if it thinks you didn't scan something.
The one time I want to Walmart and did self check out I went quick like at the grocer. It scanned the item and the weight sensor couldn't keep up and I got locked out.
When the employee came he barely glanced at the register as he unlocked it and left but I saw it playback a top down view of the register along with my face shot.
Yeah. Lots of cameras.
I found out about it when it actually caught me putting something in a bag without scanning it, because I was on autopilot and not paying attention to what I was doing.
But, like you, the employee didn't give a fuck.
