It already is IMO.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 1 points 12 minutes ago

Good Lord I've seen the headlines but that picture paints one hell of a picture.

[–] fin@sh.itjust.works 2 points 53 minutes ago

Damn. I'll never buy Toyota. I hope Mazda won't do that.

[–] xxce2AAb@feddit.dk 7 points 1 hour ago

What? Didn't his sincere smile win you over? No? Me neither.

[–] GraniteM@lemmy.world 4 points 1 hour ago

Honest question: Assume that I do in fact need a car. I've been driving Toyota since college on account of it hitting pretty much the sweet spot of affordability and reliability. Is there another car company that hits around that same realm that is less morally compromised?

[–] jaykrown@lemmy.world 7 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Toyota is seriously missing out on electric vehicles. Hybrids are overly complicated.

[–] Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 hour ago

Agreed. Why drive around with two complete drivetrains.

Headline is wrong. Former CEO.

[–] johnwicksdog@aussie.zone 37 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Fair call, but it’s worth adding he is still the chairman and part of the Toyoda dynasty and clearly representing the brand.

[–] henfredemars@lemdro.id 17 points 4 hours ago

This is true. I more have a bone to pick with intentionally misleading headlines. It sounds way more punishing for it to be the CEO, but that’s just not true. The author didn’t need to lie to get the point across.

Oh thank God. I just paid off my Avalon and can't really afford another car rn.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 hours ago

I'm just gonna keep on in my Hyundai.

[–] cubism_pitta@lemmy.world 18 points 4 hours ago

When you ride bikes you can minimize the amount of money you give to shitty people who already have too much money!

Idiot posing in front of a Ford.

[–] 50MYT@lemmy.world 9 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah the photo in front of the ford makes it funny

I think he's driving an F-150 there too though.

I'm boycotting the car industry and big oil by not having a car in the first place.

Yes I know. You couldn't do it and you need a car. Your car is so very practical. You think I should also have a car because they're so useful. I know my food is hauled by trucks burning oil and that I contribute unwillingly anyway. But I arranged my life around the fact that I don't need one, and I'm glad to avoid contributing to this horrible industry.

Fuck cars.

[–] jaykrown@lemmy.world 5 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Find me a remote job that pays over $50k a year and I'll get rid of my car. Thanks!

[–] Zirconium@lemmy.world 2 points 26 minutes ago* (last edited 26 minutes ago)

I got you $15k/yr and a cardboard box with some change and rubberbands

[–] MintyFresh@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

Fuck ya! The longer you don't drive, the more you see how ridiculous our car centric way of being is. We have salted the earth with parking lots.

[–] slowmorella@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 4 hours ago

ohh no, not Toyota :_(

[–] WhatGodIsMadeOf@feddit.org 3 points 4 hours ago

So basically Toyota is going to suck now.

[–] Bakkoda@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 hours ago

So I've read the headline a bunch but this is the first picture I've seen. I really just assumed he started being openly racist. I don't think this makes me feel better but I'm relieved a little.
